It's an interesting poem. The concluding idea (I'd rather have you hands strangling me than waving me goodbye) was new to me, which is remarkable since it's so stunning; I'd have expected it to be widely copied by less qualified poets.

There'a question of who wrote it: Hope, or a forgotten Indian poet whom Hope merely translated? But that's a trivia question, and of secondary importance.

Almost as trivial: L6 doesn't scan properly. The first fix I'd think of is:
"Holding the doors of Heaven and of Hell".
That was so obvious a fix, I actually checked the Poetry Foundation site to confirm it wasn't there. But it is there. Very weird.

Indeed. You made a usenet post (rather equivalent to a chat), where giving a link to the source text you quoted makes it clear that you're not claiming they were your own (which is what plagiarism consists of).

No, NastyGene *falsely accused* Mack of being a plagiarist.

Copying some text, and then giving the source for it, is in no way plagiarism.

> Granted, she informed you of your theft under the pretense that you'd simply been careless in regard to your "source." But a plagiarist you are, and a plagiarist you remain. For the rest of your days (all 12 of them), you are condemned to wear a scarlet colored letter "P" (approx. 1' tall and 6" wide) prominently displayed on the front of all of your clothing.

Has Michael Monkey aka "Voodoo Boy" actually put one of his Death Curses on poor Mack? Will it work this time?

We'll know by Dec. 28. Stay tuned.
