So my TiVo service abruptly deactivated this morning, literally while I was
programming a recording. Said my credit card had expired and my service was
suspended. Went to the website and looked up my account. Card on file doesn't
expire until 2026. I deleted and reentered the card. It refused to accept the
payment. Entered a different card. It accepted payment on that one. TiVo
service is still unavailable. Just gives me a service code number and says I
have to enter it on TiVo.com to reactivate. I enter it and it tells me service
for that number has already been activated. But it hasn't. I call customer
support. They don't work weekends. The recording tells me to go to the website
and read their FAQs and there's a 24-hour chat option available. Nowhere on
the website can I find a chat option. So I'm screwed until at least tomorrow
and none of the shows and season passes I have programmed will record today.
At least I can still watch live TV and access the shows already recorded.

I'm horrified. I used to be able to get through to techical support 24
hours a day.

My TiVo Series2 has a lifetime subscription, which is why I keep it
despite the analogue tuner.

UPDATE: I contacted TiVo HQ this morning and they confirmed they had some kind
of system malfunction yesterday which was both improperly rejecting valid
credit cards for subscription renewals and preventing the account
re-activation function.

The tech was able to bring me back to full functionality within minutes.

Still doesn't excuse them not working weekends, though.
