Former �Empire� actor Jussie Smollett asked Special Prosecutor Dan Webb
to stop reading the N-word out loud during the court hearing as the
attorney read Smollett�s own messages aloud as evidence.

The exchange took place during the sixth day of the controversial trial
involving Smollett. He is facing six counts regarding allegations he
staged a hate crime against himself in 2019 and claimed he was the
victim of a racist and homophobic incident.

�Some of the messages included the use of the N-word, prompting
Smollett to interrupt the prosecutor to ask him to spell or abbreviate
the word so as not to offend �every African American in this room,.'�

The messages were originally written by Smollett.

Webb then invited Smollett to read his own messages before the court,
but said he would not comply with Smollett�s request. Smollett
reportedly complied with the offer.

As The Daily Wire reported Monday, Fox News national reporter Matt
Finn, who has been covering the trial since its beginning last week,
offered several updates via Twitter after Smollett took the stand.

�Jussie Smollett just said under oath �there was no hoax,�� Finn
tweeted, adding, �Smollett says he was driving, smoking a blunt and
texting with a woman about MSNBC appearance � day of January 27th �
when the Osundairo brothers were in his car. Brothers say that�s when
hoax was being planned.�

Smollett also testified that it had become a running joke on the set of
�Empire� that the Osundairo brothers were actually his security team.
He claimed that he did not want the studio to provide security because
he preferred to drive around in his own car and �smoke my blunt� during
lunch breaks. The defense went on to argue that the Osundairo brothers
were attempting to �scare� Smollett into officially hiring the brothers
to provide security.

According to Smollett�s testimony, he was training with Bola Osundairo
primarily because �Empire� creator Lee Daniels had told him that he was
fat and because he wanted to lose weight for a music video. He also
claimed that he and Bola had a more personal relationship, saying that
the first night they met they had done weed and cocaine together and
gone to a private room in a bathhouse.

Osundairo said last week, under oath, that he had never had a sexual
relationship with Smollett. He also told the court that Smollett had
orchestrated the entire attack, saying that Smollett had told them what
to say and where they should be, even taking them out to show them the
location and the camera he hoped would capture the attack, using the
code word �training� to describe what appeared to be a dry run.

Chicago Police detectives said that Smollett appeared to be frustrated
when he learned that the camera had been pointed in the wrong direction
to pick up the attack, and initially refused to turn over his phone to
law enforcement.

So if it was offensive when the prosecutor read Smollett's words why
was it not considered offensive when Smollett himself said them?

I have never been one who believed blacks or anybody else had the
right to use grossly offensive terms with respect to themselves but
that anybody else was a terrible person.

No - if you routinely use the N-bomb (as apparently Smollett does
since it happened enough in court when the prosecutor read his
messages to be terribly offensive to him) then you're a bad person
whether you be red, yellow, black, white or green.

I know some might disagree but offensive language is offensive
language regardless of the speaker.

By the way it now seems that in Canada the euphemism is no longer
"POC" but "IBPOC" where the first two letters are 'indigenous, black'
presumably meaning only Indians and other Asians are 'of color' (both
of these groups vastly outnumber blacks in Canada)

Black Jewish actor Jussie Smollett was hospitalized in Chicago on Tuesday night after he was badly assaulted in an attack, which is being described by police as a possible hate crime.

Smollett was born to a Jewish father and African-American mother. In 2015, Smollett came out as gay, telling Ellen DeGeneres, “I choose not to talk about my personal life. But there is, without a doubt, no closet that I’ve ever been in.”
In addition to Empire, he has also appeared in the films Alien: Covenant and Marshall.
Tributes to the actor from Jewish organizations and celebrities have been pouring since news broke of the violent attack.

“This reported attack on Jussie is a disturbing reminder of the terrible homophobia and racism that plagues our society,” Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt said in a statement. “We call on police to investigate this vile incident as a hate crime and work swiftly to bring the alleged perpetrators to justice.”

The American Jewish Committee tweeted that they "are horrified by the assault on @jussiesmollet, whose attackers shouted racist and homophobic slurs before putting a noose around his neck.

"We pray for his recovery and call on police to bring the perpetrators of this hate crime swiftly to justice," the group said.

Jewish comedian Dan Levy, known for his role on the popular sitcom “Schitt’s Creek,” tweeted, “Horrifying, heartbreaking, and deeply disturbing. Combat this hate by donating to a Black/LGBTQ organization today.”

Jewish Emmy-winning reality television producer and talk show host Andy Cohen tweeted three words in response to the attack: "This. Is. Vile."

Ike Barinholtz, a well-known Jewish comedy actor, also took to Twitter to share well-wishes to Smollett.

"I hope @JussieSmollett is okay," he said, "and I hope the @Chicago_Police find the animals who did this to him."
In an emotional video posted to Instagram, Empire creator said Lee Daniels said that "it's taken me a minute to come to social media about this because Jussie, you are my son."
