From https://www.tvzoneuk.com/post/drwho-071222

Russell T. Davies has revealed new details on Series 14 and hinted at his
plans for the future of the long-running BBC sci-fi series.

Russell confirmed that Series 14, the first series with Ncuti Gatwa as the
title role, will be eight episodes long. "Okay, that's fewer episodes than
the last full season. But give us time. We have plans, and that's a
promise!"

Accompanying the eight-episode series every year will be an annual
"Christmas special". Russell reveals in Doctor Who Magazine: "For the first
time ever, I'm writing a Christmas Special... at Christmas! And this isn't
for next year, no, the 2023 script has been long since signed-off. The new
one is for end-of-year 2024!"

Davies also addresses the extended gap of 13 months between the last
episode and the first 60th Anniversary special: "It takes a while to get
the empire in shape, but that's a serious plan: annual Doctor Who, no gap
years, lots of content, on and on."

Eight episodes doesn’t sound great but - there might be more specials in
future - 8 episodes a year, every year, plus specials is the same pace as
two seasons of 12 episodes over three years, which is roughy what we’ve
been getting for the last decade - no gap years means a smoother transition
between Doctors and a more consistent schedule - the slightly lower
workload might prevent burnout so soon from the actors. Maybe we might get
a Doctor willing to play more than three seasons - especially if the
reduced schedule gives them time for side projects to ensure they don’t
become defined by their role as the Doctor?

Time will tell.

If the former, don’t expect too much of next year’s promised offering, and
I confidently predict nothing will come of it afterwards.

If the latter, I’m afraid you still have another 4-5 years to wait.

I’m quite surprised that UseNet has become temporally unstuck in this way.

Yes, that’s what I’d expect for a non-temporal “unstuck”.

However of the three fools frequenting this newsgroup:

one is mainly “at the throat” of the entire universe for not agreeing with
him, but ignores the other two fools completely (he has you killfiled, for
a start),

one just wanders off on bizarre and often dull tangents,

and the third just posts incomprehensible idiocy in short sub-sentence
fragments and fails to go “for the throat” of anyone, though you do try
occasionally.

Incoherent copy and paste tracts of insults aimed at Tim aren’t very
effective - and he doesn’t respond in kind - and you don’t attack Aggie
(and even if you did he’d never see it) so thankfully, here at least, we
are spared “fools at each others throats”.

Not only temporally unstuck (posting from the future) but from a parallel
universe where we get a Christmas special this year!)

In THIS Universe, Dave, the last episode of 2022 aired on 23 October, not
25 December. Mind you Google’s Knowledge Graph is also apparently from a
parallel dimension, as Google’s self generated “top search result” claims
the the Power of the Doctor was Series 13, episode 1,397 … much as I love
the show, I’m sure I don’t want an extra 1,388 episodes of Flux.

> Doctor Who is back with the 2nd coming of David Tennant.

No, it will be back with the return of Tennant in the lead role for three
one-hour specials.

To refer to that as “the second coming” is offensive to Christians as it
mocks their religion, Dave.

Anti-Christian Idiot.

Temporally? It usually becomes a bit unstuck when some fool posts a
response out of the blue to a thread that died 10, 20 or even 30 years ago.

YOU were the one who referred to the return of Tennant as “the second
coming”. I expanded “2nd” to “second”, which is neither a revision nor a
lie.

Christians refer to the promised return of Jesus as “the second coming”.
This is neither a revision nor a lie.

Christians do not like to see “the second coming” trivialised by using it
to refer to other things. This is neither a revision nor a lie.

So where is my “lying revision”, Dave?

Anti-Christian lying idiot.

That’s not what you said. You said “The pro-Chibnall pro-TimelessChild
anti-DoctorWho forces must be /fought/!” There are no such forces.

Idiot.

Liar. I suspect the vast majority of Doctor Who fans are in precisely such
a middle ground:

They are pro Doctor Who. (Otherwise they wouldn’t like the show - this is
axiomatic.)

They have opinions about Chibnall’s era varying from “disappointing”
through “OK” to “quite good”. I myself am at the “disappointed” end of this
spectrum.

They have opinions about the Timeless Child varying from “it shouldn’t have
been done (but it has) through “it was an OK concept poorly executed” (this
includes people who would have liked a closer variant of the Cartmel
Masterplan, a group which includes me) through “this was a great new
twist”.

None of those opinions requires them to rail against it in infantile
frustration or to idiotically pretend that the whole era doesn’t exist.

So in short, you’re a:

Lying idiot.

You referred to “@“ fools, not 2. Your lack of self awareness about your
own status in such a set is not my problem.

The general consensus in this newsgroup is that there are three principal
fools, The Idiot (that’s you, Dave), The Spammer (that’s Tim) and the
Wholly Greek (that’s the frothing ball of insanity known as Aggie),
collectively known as the unholy trinity of radw. Other “definitions”
exist, but as they are usually promulgated by one of the Three Fools, they
can safely be disregarded.

Idiot.

So much for all the lies about Disney+ paying £100 million for Series 14
and £10 million to be spent on each episode. There's not even 10 of
them. LOL!!!!!!!!

RTD's Disney+ deal is all fake rumours and exaggerations just like
Moffat's China deal.

So, not one single penny of the non-existent money from Disney+ is going
to be spent on making more Doctor Who. The less the BBC can spend on
actual episodes of Doctor Who the more it can spend on lining its own
pockets by paying employees to do nothing.

Burnout bullshit. How about these overpaid so-called entertainers work
330 days a year like everyone else has to?

> a Doctor willing to play more than three seasons - especially if the
> reduced schedule gives them time for side projects to ensure they don’t
> become defined by their role as the Doctor?

It doesn't work that way. The longer they stay in the role the more
people will associate them with only that type of character. Just look
at Gatwa himself who has no dramatic range whatsoever since the only
kind of character he has ever played is an effeminate homosexual. Talk
about RTD type casting, saying only a homosexual can play a homosexual
character on stage, film or TV. How much more bigoted can you get than
that?

SORRY!! "330 days a year like everyone else has to"!! How many work 330
days a year??

Most years have 365 days and even if a worker just got Sundays off each
week, that would bring the 'days worked a year' down below 320 days.

Add Saturdays off and Public Holidays off and Annual Leave and that
'days worked a year' number falls below 250!!

Whatever. These overpaid entertainers don't even work 250.
