She lives in Loveland, Colorado.

Besides her nonfiction books on storytelling, she is a "contributor of
stories for children to papers and magazines, including Wee Wisdom,
Crusader, Adventure, Humpty Dumpty, Five/Six, Highlights for Children,
Crusader, and Jack and Jill."

About her "Saddle Up!" books:

"A Better Bit and Bridle was based on one of our experiences. When my
middle daughter got our first horse, it came trained with a hackamore.
But 4-H rules in Colorado would only accept a bit and bridle. So I had
made a bargain with her that if she put a better bit and bridle on her
temper, she could put one on her horse. Unfortunately I used the same
phrase and bargain in the story, and this is the only time anyone has
ever recognized themselves in one of my stories. I'm not sure she ever
forgave me. Open the Gate was based on the fact that few kids ever
read their 4-H manuals. Trailering Troubles was actually based on a
friend's problems with loading her horse. We did not own our horse
that had the serious trailering problems until after the book was
written. . . . [At the time I was writing,] most of the kids in the
local 4-H horse clubs were trophy happy, and there was a lot of parent
pressure to win. I wrote A Chance to Win about a girl who thought she
was looking for a trophy but discovered something far more valuable."
