Samuel West's Siegfried still isn't Robert Hardy's Siegfried and none of
these are recognizeable as characters from the books. Still, this
episode had a few moments of entertainment.

Mrs. Hall forces Siegfried to admit that he's hiding the results of
Tristan's exams from him; he had failed. They decide Tristan will never
be told, which is beyond idiotic as it's a licensed profession and
Siegfried himself could lose his own license.

A visually-impaired woman has a budgie; Tristan is sent to trim his
beak. The bird just dies. Tristan won't tell her and gets her another
one. It's kind of sweet. Of course, he won't properly dispose of the
dead bird and hides it in a draw full of instruments used in the
surgery. How idiotic is that?

James visits home in Glasgow and fills in at a well-equipped veterinary
practice with a proper surgery and a well-trained surgical nurse. His
mother is convinced he'll set up in Glasgow for good; James doesn't
correct her.

At the sheep farm next door to the Aldersons, all the ewes are welping.
While one ewe is having a rather difficult birth, with James trying to
reposition the rather large lamb, Siegfried shows up and just starts
giving him shit while the farmer is standing there. It's an amazingly
stupid scene.

The puppy from the Aldersons is loose once again. Later in the episode,
he starts chasing the sheep around which causes all of them to get
frightened into an electrolyte imbalance requiring calcium injections.
Is this a thing? One ewe loses a lamb.

Mr. Alderson takes an absurd position that the dog must be put down;
James insists it can be trained. He's a vet. What else would he say?

The puppy is trained not to frighten sheep by the end of the episode,
with an hour's worth of training. I'm not having that kind of result
with my own dog. I guess I'm using the wrong treats.

There's more of there simply isn't any chemistry between the actors
playing James and Helen and there never will be.

The countryside is gorgeous and the animals are cute. The writing is
just horrific and I don't care for the acting. I watch regardless 'cuz
I'm an idiot.
