I watched:

WE ARE THE 80'S

WE ARE THE 80'S

WE ARE THE 80'S

MARY TYLER MOORE:
Me TV showed several eps of MTM featuring Sueanne Nivans, along with various
promos she filmed for them about ten years ago.

MAMA'S FAMILY:
"Country Club". Ellen is being honored as Woman of the Year at the
Raytown Country Club banquet, but to her dismay, her family was also
invited to attend.

MAMA'S FAMILY:
"Ellen's Boyfriend". Recently divorced Ellen finds relief from her
grief in a new boy friend she doesn't want her family to meet.

THE LOVE BOAT:
In this extra long ep, the stories are horse-related b/c one of the
stops is at the Acapulco Steeplechase. Oh yeah, the Village People were
on board for some reason, too!
"Secretary to the Stars". Loni Anderson is a bitchy celebrity who
disguises herself as Tooty in order order to toy with men's
affections.
"Julie's Decision". Julie falls in love with one of the passengers
who owns a race horse in Mx. The man breaks off the engagement by
pulling a "Bill Clinton".
"The Horse Lover". Betty White and her husband play a couple who took
the cruise as a means to get to the horse race. Wouldn't it have been
easier and cheaper to take a plane directly to Acapuclo? OK, maybe he
did it to trick his wife into going.
"Gopher and Isaac Buy a Horse". A familiar trope that makes even less
sense on a boat.

THE LOVE BOAT:
"My Friend, the Executrix". Betty White, the executrix of recently widowed
Carol Channing's trust fund, refuses to let her spend money but has no
problem with spending it on herself. Predictibly, Carol goes broke, but only
b/c they discover her husband's creditors took it all. Hmm, wouldn't they
have known that before she took the cruise? Carol has a backup plan but
predictibly deep sixes it by mistake.
"Programmed for Love". A woman must compete with a man's lame robot for his
affections.
"Baby Talk". A couple meet their surrogate, the man falls in love with her,
who bitches out the infertile wife, making her pregnant, and making him love
his wife again.

THE LOVE BOAT:
"No More Alimony". Alan Thicke is sick of paying alimony so he comes
aboard to make sure ex-wife Michelle Phillips actually ties the knot
with fianc Fred Willard and it ends exactly the way you think it
would.
"How Do I Love Thee?". Rue McClanahan plays an old friend of the
captain who gets routinely beaten by Dick Van Patten. In the end she
decides she has too much time invested in him to give him up and goes
off to continue getting the beatings she so richly deserves while he
gets counciling. I was surprised they "went there".
"Authoress, Authoress". Carol Channing and Betty White want to get a
book published about their lives to get rich and end up not doing it
because they have a lot of inbred hick relatives in the Ozarks that
would find the book amusing. Quite frankly, the publisher deserved that
after making those Crooked Hillary-esque statements and not shutting
up.

LIFE, LIBERTY, & LEVIN:
Mark sits down with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) to discuss his handling
of the pandemic, challenges in education, and the future of the GOP.

FAMILY GUY:
"Mister Act". An accident leaves Peter with a high-pitched voice, and Jesus
coaches him into fending off the other choir boys; meanwhile, Stewie is
attracted to Lois' new masculine physique.

Mostly finished out "Snowpiercer", and watched some football...:

Snowpiercer (HBO Max) - Last 4 episodes of season #2 (ep. #2.7-2.10).
Despite this final portion of season #2 simply rehashing a lot of
season #1 storylines - though the "fall of Ruth" was a novel
development! - I actually did like the season #2 finale, as improbable
and over-the-top as it was.
Once again, I think Daveed Diggs and Alison Wright pretty much stole
season #2, despite Sean Bean's theatrics.
I will point out the old soap opera trope here - "no body = not
dead", so I'm guessing Melanie isn't really dead but survived somehow
(and will sneak back on the train?...).
They left the fates of a lot of characters (esp. Javi... and Ruth!)
up in the air, so they can drop a whole bunch more people from season
#3 if they want to. (I'm most curious to see if they bring Georgina
Haig back, after doing almost nothing with her character in season
#3...) For example, I'm pretty much sure that Aleks Paunovic is done
(thanks to "Hawkeye"!). I'm also wondering if any of the missing season
#1 characters like Jinju and Dr. Klimpt reappear.

football - The 49ers barely managed to come back against the Rams in
order to win a playoff birth. The stupid Chargers weren't so lucky
against the hated Raiders. >:/

Trapped by My Sugar Daddy (Lifetime) - They obviously had fun dressing
Katie Kelly up like a pretty doll here. That said, her character was an
idiotic drip, who easily succumbs to absuive psychological manipulation.
I must admit - I missed what the point of all of this was at the
end. So, these guys were human traffickers?... And the whole "rich
guy/sugar daddy" thing was just a ruse?!
If so, this is the most improbable, unbelievable take on "human
trafficker" that I have ever seen (even on Lifetime!!).
FTR, Lindsay Hartley has mostly a bit part here - the mother is
actually played by Tiffany Montgomery (whom I'm not really familiar
with).

--
"Who would ever do this to him!?" - HottCiara on DOOL (04-27-2020), asking
who would stab Victor Kirakis... How about ANYONE WHO'S EVER MET HIM??!!

I think his direction for the season was be as over the top as you
possibly can, then be more over the top. And whether or not your
character comes back for another season depends *entirely* on how much
scenery you can chew!

I haven't checked lately to confirm the latest status, but when it first
happened I thought she was written out, then later heard she'd be back.
My current understanding is she's in season 3. I don't think I've
seen her in the trailer for the upcoming season, but that doesn't mean
anything.

I watched:

Mayor of Kingstown (Paramount+) - "This Piece of My Soul" - I guess this
was the season finale. I'll know of sure next week if another episode
pops up or not. They did a pretty good job of wrapping everything up,
but I wouldn't mind another episode to serve as an epilogue. There were
definitely a couple of strings left dangling, but I guess that's what
season 2 is for.

Nightmare Alley (TCM) 1947 film noir starring Tyrone Power (I always
conflate him with Powers Boothe) as a circus con man. There is a remake
of this movie in theaters now. When I saw the remake in theaters I had
no idea it was a remake. I thought it was an original movie. Even
though I was able to predict what was going to happen while watching, it
wasn't because I saw the original, it was because I saw a totally
different movie (1932's Freaks) with a somewhat similar plot.

The remake follows the original (both based off the same novel) very
closely. But to the degree there are differences, the remake is better.
Mainly because the remake has an obviously bigger budget and the
characters are fleshed out more. Also the remake keeps the books
original darker ending while in the 1947 version the studio made them
tack on a slightly less gloomy ending.

Some Came Running (TCM) 1958 drama starring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin,
and Shirley Maclaine. I've never heard of this movie before now. What
little plot there is involves Sinatra returning to his home town from
war and running into trouble. There's also a love triangle with
Sinatra, Maclaine, and another woman that Sinatra loves. I only watched
it because of the cast, and I thought it might pair well with "Robin and
His 7 Hoods" which I already had sitting on my DVR. I didn't really
care for it. It was a chore to get through.

Robin and the Seven Hoods (TCM) 1964 musical comedy starring the Rat
Pack in a parody of Robin Hood but set in 1920s Chicago during
prohibition. I haven't watched this in a decade or two. It held up
very well.

Dexter: New Blood - "Sins of the Father" - A generally satisfying
series finale.

I assume you are not thinking of the movie with George Peppard and the
"killer cockroaches".
