back. There are a couple more verses now; fixes and additions are welcome.

The Metamorphosis
TTTO: Charlie and the MTA

Let me tell you the story of a man named Gregor,
An ordinary working mug;
He was sleeping one night, and after dreams unsettled
He awakened as a giant bug.

Refrain:

Was it something he ate? Did he just have to wait?
Did he pupate while he dozed?
Did he ever determine why he changed to vermin?
He's the man who metamorphosed.

Well, Gregor rode to work on a railway coach
Every morning come shine or rain,
But they wouldn't sell a ticket to a human-sized roach,
Gregor couldn't get onto that train!

Refrain

Now Gregor is no more, he had a very sad story
And it could have been you or I,
Whether emperor or beggar, either beats being Gregor
In that big Roach Motel in the sky.

Modified refrain:

Was it something he ate? Did he just have to wait?
Did he pupate while he dozed?
No he never determined why he changed to vermin,
He's the man who metamorphosed.

Heh, I like this concept. I wonder if some further refinement is
possible for the words.

I think Raid insecticide is still using that series of commercials,
though they may have updated some of them. Though annotating it for
people who haven't seen them, and for people who don't see TV
commercials, probably wouldn't be a bad idea.

Now that you mention it, I have seen those commercials, but I had
forgotten about them completely. I still thought the verse was good,
just because of the reference to the insecticide. I had also thought
about using "Raid" in a verse, but my idea was nowhere near as good as
yours, and I didn't pursue it.

I once wrote a "Rapid Action Interactive Debugger" for my employer's
internal use. Several other debuggers have used the same acronym.
