"socialism". The Soviet Union in Stalin's day was driven by desire to
"build socialism", which Marx had told them was a vital stop on the way
towards communism, and they made herculean efforts to follow what Marx
and Lenin and Stalin told them had to be done. It cost tens of millions
of Soviet lives, to the point where not a single family in that massive
country didn't lose someone. But to a moral horror like Stalin - and
apparently you - that was just a case of having to break a few eggs to
get a nice omelette.
