When my brother and I went to the annual Bike Week in Sturgis S.D. in
1994, a town of 7000 turned into a city of 300,000 overnight. I've never
seen so many motorcycles in one place at one time. In fact, I probably
saw more motorcycles that one week than I have in my entire life. (The
Bike Week that coincided with Harley-Davidson's 100th anniversary
apparently saw a solid ONE MILLION attendees, many of them on
motorcycles. This was a few years after we went to Bike Week.)

When we were there, we were told that the bike gang members had a
long-standing truce in effect for Bike Week and that this was devised
some years before after earlier Bike Weeks had seen violent conflicts
between rival gangs. I don't know any details of those conflicts though
so I can't say if they were just fist fights in bars or involved gunfire.
