Tonight's episode is titled "Don't Touch the Oven." I just watched a
preview preview clip of Tevin pushing to Liz to take out Soda. Tevin
tells us he, Liz, and Hunter are on board to take Soda out.

I thought tonight’s episode was pretty good. It flew by for me even
though the last 20 minutes or so had some pretty cringe moments. The end
result was very satisfying!

The episode started off with Bhanu making another stupid game move. He
told Q & Tiff about what he said on the Journey. They were shocked and
not happy. When they told Kenzie she was not happy.

Jem rehiding her Beware Advantage in a different spot was pretty funny.
Maria found the note and they all wasted a ton of time digging under a
huge tree and dealing with big ants. Charlie suspected rather quickly
that someone had already found the idol and was just screwing with the
rest of them.

Reward Challenge

Kenzie’s tribe killed it and won but traded their 10 fish for a large
toolkit and large tarp. Maria took forever getting her ring off the pole
and her tribe finished last. Venus’s tribe got 5 fish.

Q had some more obnoxious moments in tonight’s episode when he was
“training” Bhanu. Bhanu got upset when Kenzie wouldn’t help him learn
how to be better socially. I thought Bhanu was being totally selfish as
she said she would but wanted five minutes to chill out.

Tevin seems to be in a good situation. Looks like he has Liz and Hunter
and they’re both on board to take out Soda. No indication was given that
Soda knows that her boy Tevin wants to stab her in the back. The target
appears to be off Venus for now which is good.

Immunity Challenge

Hunter was super impressive in the IC. He performed way better than Q
who looked like he was about to die when he got to the final platform.
Bhanu, on the other hand, fucked up at least twice causing his tribe to
lose. WTF was he thinking at the beginning when he skipped part of the
challenge?

Before the commercial break, Kenzie says Bahnu’s going which turned out
to be one of those rare cases where there was zero misdirection on the
part of the editors.

Back at Camp

Bhanu looks for an idol and then falls apart. Very embarrassing. Tiff
tells him to get up off his knees and then tells him she’s writing his
name down because she doesn’t trust him. I was surprised she didn’t add
that you’re also a liability because you’re too stupid to play this game.

Tribal Council (Night 9)

This TC was very different. Bhanu told how he fucked up in the game and
then talked about his life story. Jeff then said “Bhanu, whenever you’re
ready.” That was it. No need for a vote. The four-episode Bhanu arc is
over and so is he. As a reminder, Bhanu had no vote and thus couldn’t
play his SITD.

FYI, Q on X tonight said they were asked if they wanted to vote.

“We were asked if we wanted to vote. No move was being made and no need
to waste more time and energy walking up those steps.”

https://twitter.com/QMB_4/status/1770631946277621873

Next Episode

Looks like Jem might have been caught in terms of planting her Beware
Advantage note. Surprisingly, no mention of a tribe shuffle from three
to two tribes.

For being a superfan and claiming to have seen every season, how could
Bhanu have made so many basic mistakes? Was his real goal to gain a
large social media following? Now that he’s gone Kenzie can concentrate
on more important aspects of the game.

I liked that we saw the members of Orange and Green Tribes doing things, but
any time that Bhanu was on screen the show was unwatchable IMO. It’s been
two seasons in a row now that Survivor Casting (including Jeff Probst who has
final say) have put really bad players on the show (Hannah, Brandon, Bhanu,
David Jelinsky, and Jessica Chong). The presence of these people resulted
in really predictable early games that couldn’t even be categorized as
entertaining.
In S44, Survivor took a risk in casting Carolyn and Yammy who, I think,
surprised
a lot of people by doing well. So, for S45 and 46, it seems that Casting
tried to
find some more quirky outsiders to put on the show because it worked so well
In S44. But, by going against “type” when casting, the result has simply
been
very bad players who have not been, in the least, prepared to play the game.

That was a pretty slick move that I don’t think anybody prior to Jem
has ever pulled off. I also liked how she followed it up by subtly
trying to pin the blame on other players. I still have no idea what
an International Brand Mentor does, but I'm guessing that she is
probably good at it.

Last night Karla Godoy from S43 tweeted (Xed?) that the place where the Green
Tribe members were digging was the exact same place where the latrine was
located
during her season. I’m assuming that Survivor employees do significant site
remediation
between seasons. But still.....

> Q had some more obnoxious moments in tonight’s episode when he was

Real Estate Agent is a dick, but, to his credit, he was able to succeed at
the “ring toss”
game. So, as of E04, he is 1-1 when participating in children's birthday
party games. :-)

> Hunter was super impressive in the IC.

He is impressive when doing anything. But luckily for him, Tevin and Soda
seem to understand the concept of the “meat shield”.

I skipped everything that happened after Purple Tribe’s return to camp. I
assumed
that I’d heard/seen all of it in previous episodes.

I didn't like the episode. I couldn't believe that for the fourth episode
in a row we either didn't have a tribal council or it was obvious who was
going home. For all practical purposes, it was the second episode in a row
without a real TC (notice Jeff didn't even bother to take a vote). The
focus on Bhanu to the apparent exclusion of most of the other players was
disappointing to the extreme. Bhanu's personality was revealed in the first
few moments we saw him, and the excessive amount of time with him this
episode, and indeed this season, was embarrassing, boring and really cringe
worthy. I don't find Bhanu likeable or inspiring. He comes across as
well-meaning but nonetheless childish, self-absorbed, cloying and
desperately needy. The literal begging he did to Tiffany was unbearable to
watch.

I know Jeff loves emotional players, and this plays right up his alley and,
as someone suggested on a recent podcast I heard, Bhanu is undoubtedly
candidate number one to receive $100K from Sia. But this almost borders on
stalking as we saw way more of Bhanu's inner self than we really needed to.
I half wondered at times if Bhanu realized he was on camera and being viewed
by seven million people as he poured his soul out throughout the episode.
I'm glad he is gone so we can resume focus on several other much more
interesting players this season.

One other note - am I the only one who finds it a bit difficult to tell Liz,
Moriah and, to a lesser extent, Kenzie apart? I'm starting to know who
Kenzie is because they've shown us so much of her tribe, and Moriah has a
bruise or something on her mouth that distinguishes her from Liz, but all
three seem weirdly similar to me for some reason.

Bhanu's exit is why I was fine with the episode even though it had a lot
of cringe moments thanks to him. What concerns me is that Jeff says he
would cast Bhanu again.

Has Sia ever given money to someone who was booted this early in the game?

There's also some players we've barely heard from. Tim's a big mystery
to me. IIRC, he and Maria have a parent bond. That's about all I know
about him.

Kenzie is totally different than those other two. At first, I thought
Moriah and Liz were the same person. Then in Episode 2 we saw them both
being annoying as hell yelling encouragement to their respective tribes
from the sitout bench.

It's like they're copying BB casting. BB just about always casts people
who are so clueless about the game that they end up being easy to spot
early boots. With the number of people who apply for these shows there's
no excuse for wasting cast spots. Jeff not wanting to cast villains
anymore is another stupid move.

She seems way too young to be a mentor. I also like that she's trying to
do new things and shake up the game.

That's funny! "Tweeted" is still the term everyone uses.

His being a dick to Bhanu made Bhanu look better. Too bad two minutes
later Bhanu treated Kenzie like shit and went back to being completely
unlikable.

And so does Liz. I'd like to see footage of Hunter and Venus
interacting. Do they get along or has Tevin poisoned him against her?

You missed one interesting moment that probably flew over a lot of
people's heads. When Bhanu was looking for an idol, Q expressed concern
to Tiff about him finding it. She replied, "He ain't gonna find it
because I have it." For me, this indicates that Tiff is much closer to
Kenzie than to Q. I can see Tiff pushing to take him out once the merge
happens. His cockiness is a liability. Kenzie seems very trustworthy and
loyal which is invaluable going into the end game.

I’ve noticed that we rarely see Hunter interacting with anybody on his
tribe. Prior to
the conversation that he had with Tevin that we saw in last night’s
episode, I can’t
remember any other time that we saw him talking game strategy.

I did see that part. It was pretty clear to me that Cue was aware that Tiff
had found
an immunity amulet because he made a comment about how unlikely it would be
for
a “second” advantage to have been hidden. Then when Tiff said that Bhanu
won’t
find anything because she already has it, she sounded like she was just
confirming
something that Cue already knew, rather than revealing new information.

I'm pretty sure Sia has never given an award to anyone pre-merge (other than
maybe Joe Anglim in Edge of Extinction who had already appeared on two prior
seasons), but if ever she's gonna do it, this is the season. Bhanu seems so
much like the prototypical Sia recipient that a skeptic might think he was
campaigning for it with his sob story.
