The Supreme Court will review Moore v. Harper next term, an election law
case from North Carolina, in which the "independent state legislature
doctrine", based on the Constitution's elections clause in Article I
Section 4. In the doctrine, the state legislature is independent of even
the state's constitution and oversight from state courts.
