these lasted one season but they were not good...

1. no ordinary family (yet another "team of super-heroes" story)

2. alphas (see above. had a boring cliff-hanger ending)

3. strange luck (lead character is "chance harper" and he experiences
odd coincidences)

4. brimstone (some bad guys escape from hell and must be returned)

5. alcatraz (idiotic time-travel story that made some fools believe it
was real)

Pardon, it appears your shuft key is broken...

I'm not sure if watched any of those, but I thought Brimstone was somewhat
popular.

Wasn't Alphas a SFC show? I might have seen that one.

I second that!

Clever writing, good acting, and memorable stories.

Why it was canceled just as it was picking up steam
in the ratings has always been a mystery to me.

Nyssa, who still has a couple of Brimstone episodes
recorded somewhere if she can find them

It's often the case that a show on the edge was being championed by an
executive who has since left the network.

I've got the series on DVD. I mostly remember John Glover as the Devil,
as well as the tattoos.

ALPHAS was a good show with the great David Strathairn. It's on my
rewatch list.

Yeah, his performance really stood out to me and probably helped him
nail the SMALLVILLE role.

One of the scenes that sticks in my mind is of the Devil
noticing a book on Stone's night table. He then picks it
up leaves through a few pages, then goes to the back of
the book and tears out the last page before replacing the
book on the night stand.

No dialog, just the facial expressions which made the scene
work.

So where is the DVD set available? I've had it on one of
my Amazon wishlists forever, but they claim it's never
been released on DVD.

Inquiring Brimstone fans want to know!

Nyssa, who has a couple of episodes saved on a Panasonic
RW proprietary format disk, but would love to get all
14 episodes (including the one never aired) on real
DVD disks

Oh, sorry, the DVDs were made for me by a friend (of whom another friend
jokingly says, "He records everything"), who had the series on
videotape. The quality is therefore no better than VHS, but if I run
across them as I go through my stuff, I'd be willing to make copies for
starving fans.

According to this site, the 14th ep. was "was shut down three hours into
production."

I will point out again that the series is available on Usenet for
downloading from the gray. Though it is not in much better quality as
the best I see (yes, I just checked that it is there) is a 704x546 at
25fps version in MP4.

Sadly since it hasn't been released by this time I doubt we will ever
get an official release of the series.

I say that, then go check and find that it apparently was released on
DVD.

A 100% legal (what do you mean it may not be legal?) DVD fan made
release.

I dunno. The website says, "Should an item be unavailable, we would
inform you if it was possible to provide an on-Demand DVD-R version of
the requested item, but we offer no guarantees. Many DVD stores now
offer MOD service, and so do we to keep a competitive edge. We would not
make any profit out of such sale. The price of the items would only
cover the operational / raw material / shipping costs; and would be sold
for personal use only." But how does not making a profit allow one to
maintain a "competitive edge"? I suspect that if you inquire, they
will indeed offer to run off DVD copies for you, but I doubt they'd be
better quality than VHS, since that's the likely original source
material.

They do not include any information about who issued/published
_Brimstone_, so I remain skeptical about whether there was ever a legal
publication on DVD.
