I watched:

GLEN BECK

THE DARK SIDE OF THE 90'S:
"Black Sitcoms' Last Laugh". Black comedies explode in the 90s, with sitcoms
written and produced by Black creators, featuring Black casts. But no culture
is immune to the toxicity of fame and power.
Next week: The other shoe drops.

WELCOME TO PLATHVILLE:
"I Wasn't Invited". Micah bartends at his friend's art show, where things
heat up with Antia. Meanwhile, the rest of the family reunites with Barry in
Cairo, but Kim is excluded because Ethan and Olivia do not want to see her.
I am definitely losing interest in this show because I barely paid attention
to it this week.

What did you watch?

> What did you watch?

I'm feeling under the weather yesterday and today (I don't think it's
COVID - I think it's my recurring strep, though I'll try to figure that
out later...), so this will be briefer than usual...:

soaps: DOOL - Marlena hypnotizes Lucas, which leads them to the next
suspect - Sarah Horton! (It will be interesting to see if they use her
hallucinations to pin her the killing of Abby on Sarah in order to
write her out again). They also quickly add a new female detective to
make up for the loss of Lani & Eli. Finally, Gwen gets a new cellmate:
it's Kristen!! and Kristen suspects that Gwen figured out a way to kill
Abby.
GH - They still aren't telling us how Willow is sick - I'm guessing
it's cancer. I'm wondering if Willow is coming up on the end of her 3
year contract, and they're getting ready to write her out. (Though if
Katelyn MacMullen is smart she'll stick around, as I don't see her
making it outside of soaps...) Spencer implements his plan to coerce
Esme to admit that she framed Trina - it's not going well! Trina's
trial continues with Joss on the stand.

Resident Evil (Netflix) - "Parasite" and "Revelation" (ep's #7 & #8).
Ep. #7 was loopy fun with clones of Albert. If the whole show had
been like this episode, it would have been a lot better.
The finale, ep. #8, was terrible. I already trashed it in a followup
to Anim in a recent WDYW? thread. Based on the finale, I don't intend
to continue with this show, even if it is renewed - it's the "no
likeable characters" dilemna once again. I'm sorry, but Lance Reddick
is not enough here.

Corrective Measures (Tubi) - This is, by far, probably the "best" of
Bruce Willis' recent flicks - it even has a >4/10 rating on IMDb (all
of Willis' other recent flicks rate in the 3's!). But that may be
because this is less a "Bruce Willis" flick, and more a "Michael
Rooker" flick.
This is basically an "X-Men" prison movie.
The film open with recent Lifetime staple Dan Payne playing
"Payback", a vengeful supe/mutant who ruthlessly kills a bunch of
criminals and is arrested.
I think this is when we get the "expository intro", explaining how a
"radiation pulse" led to the creation of mutants with powers. However,
this intro is badly written in terms of the timeline - is this 20 years
after the "pulse"? or just a few years? (I think it does end up being
20 years after, but this is never made clear, and the timeline is
muddled in several places!)
Payback, and mousy empath named Diego (Brennan Mejia), are then sent
to the "mutant prison", San Tiberon(!), where their powers are kept in
check.
The prison is run by Rooker's "Overseer Devlin". The biggest baddest
inmate in the prison is "The Lobe" (Willis) who has mind-control
powers. Another prominent inmate is "The Conductor" (with electricity
powers), played by Tom Cavanagh, who has a ball chewing the scenery.
"Corrective Measures" starts very strong, but loses momentum as it
goes along, especially after we lose Cavanagh's character, and the film
goes on too long (its runtime is about 1 hr and 45 mins).
Still, this is the best of Willis' recent flicks.
As with other recent flicks, nearly 100% of Willis scenes are filmed
in "isolation", with just Willis, and other people "cut into the scene"
for dialogue, etc. (To be honest, a good percentage of Rooker's scenes
are like that too, though he definitely has actual scenes with other
actors.) There is just one single scene near the film's end with both
Rooker and Willis in the same shots, but even here the direct
interaction is kept to a minimum...
Sidenote: And now I think I have run out of recent Bruce Willis
flicks that I can watch - the last 6-8 Willis flicks from 2022 are not
on streamers yet (or, in one case, is on AMC+, which I don't get!). I
will have to wait for the other final Willis flicks to come to various
streamers, which could take up to 6 months...

Recorded for later: Motherland: Fort Salem.

I forgot one:

The Time Traveler's Wife (HBO Max) - Ep. #1.
After a confusing start, I liked that the TV show began with Henry
first meeting Claire, rather than Claire first meeting Henry (which I
think is how the movie starts).
I also like that this is only 6 episodes!! ;)
But I didn't like the really awkward "video interview segments"
(thank god the movie didn't do this!), and I was annoyed they we get
multiple, *multiple* nude Theo James butt shots, but nothing from Rose
Leslie!! (Leslie did a pretty good job a avoidinging nude scenes even
on GoT - I think she only managed one topless scene in the series...).
Anyway, I'm liking this, and will definitely finish it out.

I kept saying it's a good show. And the pilot is probably the weakest
episode...

I watched:

Better Call Saul - "Fun and Games" - More fall out from the mid season
finale. I didn't fully follow this episode while watching it, but I
watched a breakdown video which explained large parts of this episode
tied directly to "Breaking Bad." I was aware of the time jumps but the
significance went over my head which is why I didn't follow what was
going on. The show is slowly but surely starting to link up with
Breaking Bad.

C'mon C'mon (Showtime) 2021 Black and White drama starring Joaquin
Phoenix (who I could have sworn was Mark Ruffalo) as a journalist
interviewing kids for some reason or other, who takes his young nephew
on a road trip. The first sign this movie was going to be a problem was
when it said "A24" was the distributor, the second warning sign was it
is in black and white. But it had good reviews, so I just had to watch
it. When am I ever going to learn? This was nothing but pretentious
art-house Oscar bait. And not the good kind either!

Birthmarked (Showtime) 2018 comedy starring Matthew Goode and Toni
Collette as married scientists who adopt three children and raise them
as part of a social experiment to see if they can go against their
supposed biological natures. This movie wants to be a Wes Anderson
movie so bad it hurts. But I guess it was able to hold my interest well
enough.

Evil (Paramount+) - "The Demon of Algorithms" - This episode seemed to
be mostly filler with everyone spinning their wheels on the case of the
week. But the shocking ending, was a huge deal. It also made it clear
that there will be no redemption for Christine Lahti's character.

Motherland: Fort Salem - "Cession in Session" - This was another good
one with lots of action. They pulled a bit of an Arrow by having all
the henchmen getting killed while their leader survived untouched. But
there was an in episode explanation for that, so I'll forgive them this
once.

I get packages. I have no idea how these were sent to me. I even get

For standard mail, correct. But as I said I get packages separately. And I
also get the junk supermarket flyers that come out every Wednesday that

I forgot that I watched this on Wednesday - I'll mention it today.

But if you're talking about this thing with Camarilla Alban, it was pathetic!

Are you sure this refers to ep.6.9, "Fun and Games," and not ep.6.10
"Nippy"? The only time jump I got out of "Fun and Games" was near the
end of the episode, into the near future, after Kim left and "Saul"
moved into extravagant new digs at home, but was still working out of
the strip mall office. That wasn't where he was working during "Breaking
Bad," was it?

Yeah, I got the name wrong. I was thinking of "Nippy."
