It goes without saying that the Biden FBI�s raid on former President
Donald Trump�s Mar-a-Lago home has sent earthquake-like shockwaves
through the right, with many including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Sen.
Marco Rubio, and GOP House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy ripping
senior officials like DOJ Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI
Director Christopher Wray, and declaring the United States a �banana
republic.�

But though some Democrats were gleeful over the news of what is
unmistakably a politically motivated raid designed in part to try and
knock Trump out of contention for 2024 should he decide to run, Sen.
Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) had some rather interesting
reactions to what went down at Trump�s Florida estate.

Appearing on Rachel Maddow�s program on MSNBC Monday night, Schumer was
repeatedly pressed early on about what happened and what his thoughts
were. He appeared visibly uncomfortable at times, uncharacteristically
refusing to comment and saying to do so right now would be �premature�
because �none of us know the facts�:

But later, Schumer in some ways gave the game away, suggesting
Republicans are �gonna pay a price for this in the election� and noting
he believed Democrats should use the raid �as an issue� in the coming
months, stating without any obvious sense of irony or self-awareness
whatsoever considering the circumstances that �the rule of law and the
protection of democracy is a key issue here, and we better watch out if
we give Republicans power in either the House or the Senate.�

What Schumer left out, of course, was that Democrats are indeed
terrified that Republicans are going to take back the House and Senate
come fall not just because they�re worried their �woke� domestic agenda
will get derailed but also because they are deeply concerned that
Republicans will finally hold intelligence agencies accountable and in
a very public and embarrassing way for how they�ve worked in concert
with powerful Democratic figures to weaponize their agencies into
political revenge operations, especially over the last six years or so.

As far as Schumer�s refusal to comment on the actual raid itself, it
was especially odd considering he predicted it to some extent with a
smirk on his face back in 2017 shortly before Trump took office:

�You take on the intelligence community, they have six ways
from Sunday at getting back at you, so even for a practical,
supposedly hard-nosed businessman, he�s being really dumb to
do this,� Schumer said to Rachel Maddow while speaking on
MSNBC.

�What do you think the intelligence community would do if they
were motivated to?� Maddow asked.

�I don�t know,� Schumer said. �But from what I am told, they
are very upset with how he has treated them and talked about
them. And we need the intelligence community. Look at the
Russian hacking. Without the intelligence community we wouldn�t
have discovered it.�
