After an arduous workout, I watched:

PREMIERE LEAGUE SOCCER:
Manchester Unite lost to some 3rd tier team. Oh, the humanity!

EARTH DIES SCREAMING:
Survivors of an alien invasion battle killer robots and marauding
zombies in an attempt to save the planet in this so-so sci-fi thriller.
I am sure I saw this before but eventually realized why; it didn't
really conclude.

DOCTOR WHO:
"Shabas". A lost Tom Baker ep. Apparently, Pluto TV got new Doctor Who
eps. I only watched parts of it.

DOCTOR WHO:
"Dragonfire". The TARDIS lands on the frigid planet Svartos, where the
Iceworld colony is ruled by the pitiless Kane. There, the Doctor and
Melanie meet a time-displaced teenager from Earth called Ace, and are
reunited with intergalactic rogue Sabalom Glitz. Glitz is searching for
the treasure of the legendary Dragon which is supposed to dwell in the
lower levels of Iceworld, unaware that he is doing so at Kane's behest.
When Ace refuses Kane's offer to become one of his zombie-like
mercenaries, she and Mel flee into the Iceworld tunnels, where Kane's
millennia-old secrets wait to be discovered.
Wow, this one sucked. The story was stupid and made no sense. I hate
that screaming bimbo Mel and Ace's backstory was nonsense. As it turns
out, Kame was exiled here and colony was a huge spaceship, a la
Encounter At Farpoint with the power supply being held by the dragon,
so all he had to do was retrieve the power unit from the dragon to
leave, which took him 3000 years to achieve. Why the hell would you
banish someone and give him the means to return? It was a moot point,
tho, since his home star had gone supernova about a third into his
banishment, so he committed suicide a la the Nazis in the first Indiana
Jones movie. Oh yeah, they kept focusing on this eight year old girl
for no apparent reason.

What did you watch?

Let's go Brandon!

I'll probably go through all the F&F movies again before the next one.
I've been revisiting them every other year or so, and so far I haven't
gotten tired of rewatching them. They remain very enjoyable, but the
more of them they make, the longer it takes to get through them. It
takes multiple days, plus there are the spin off and connected universe
movies to watch as well if you're being complete.

This will be a two day catch up. I watched:

Day Shift (Netflix streaming) New vampire comedy starring Jamie Foxx as
a vampire hunter who works for an organization that pays people to kill
vampires. Dave Franco costars as a paper pusher for the organization
assigned to go out into the field with Foxx and essentially spy on him
to catch him breaking the rules so they can get rid of him. I haven't
watched it in a while, so I can't be sure of the comparison, but I was
getting "John Carpenter's Vampires" vibes from it. It also had some
"Lost Boys" vibes too. And now that I think about it, even a direct
quote. For fans of vampire movies it's a must watch.

Underdog Kids (Netflix disc rental) 2015 martial arts comedy written,
directed, produced by, and starring Phillip Rhee (Yeah, I never heard
of him before either). Rhee, who starred in the "Best of the Best"
movie series plays a down on his luck professional martial artists who
agrees to train a group of inner city lovable delinquents at a dojo
after they run off their previous teacher. He trains them to go up
against a Cobra Kai rip off run off run by Patrick Fabian (Better Call
Saul) in an upcoming tornament. This movie was pure paint by numbers
and pretty much ripped off, The Karate Kid, Bad News Bears, Might Ducks,
and probably several other movies I'm blanking on at the moment. But it
was watchable.

Standoff (Netflix disc rental) 2016 thriller starring Laurence Fishburne
as a hitman whose picture is taken by a 12 year old girl while out on a
hit. He chases after the girl to kill her, but the girl makes her way
to a farm house out in the middle of nowhere where, where a former
soldier played by Thomas Jane lives. After an initial shoot out between
the two, most of the movie is Thomas Jane and the girl hold up upstairs
while Fishburne is downstairs as they trade clever dialogue back and
forth as they plot to kill each other. It was watchable.

Jeepers Creepers 1-3 (blu-ray) With the 4th movie about to get a
theatrical release, it was time to revisit them. This is the horror
franchise about an unstoppable monster that every 23 years gets to feed
for 23 days. I haven't watched them since the third one got released so
they were a little fuzzy. I had a vague memory that the 2nd one was a
prequel to the first one but after not being able to confirm that
through google, I went ahead and watched them in order. The first two
were background noise with the commentary track. The second one is
definitely not a prequel. Except for a setup that takes place 23 years
prior to the first movie, the sequel takes place the day after the first
movie. The third one was also background noise and V jnf gbgnyyl pnhtug

If I lived somewhere with an unstoppable monster and new it only arose
every 23 years, I'd probably just move away, but if I didn't, I'd sure as
hell plan a nice month-long vacation to Hawaii or somewhere for the period
of feeding that I knew was coming.

The movie takes place out in the middle of nowhere where most people
apparently aren't aware. Although the second and third movies did focus
on those in the know who were trying to stop it. In the first movie the
Creeper slaughtered an entire police station full of cops, so word
definitely got out. In the third movie there was a heavily armed police
response when they went after him. One of the ones in the know
mentioned he always relocates after a slaughter so that played a role in
it too. If he came to your town, you wouldn't know until the
slaughtering started. At that point you could try to run, but if he
targeted you for some reason, well even a police station full of cops
couldn't keep him from you.

I just realized that it has been almost 23 years since the first movie
was released. I don't know who is in the new one or if it is continuity
with the first three or not, but at this point they could definitely
make an in continuity sequel that takes place 23 years later. Wow, time
has seriously flown by!
