I'm with NG on this. I make sure to refer to some of my crew as "they" because online, especially in things that males traditionally dominate like comics and video game creation, TTRPG and even SciFi authoring, they have to hide their gender to avoid being harassed for daring to do such things, or to avoid unwanted advances.
