It's always nice to hear that, occasionally.

Knowing your idiosyncratic sense of humor, I'm not convinced that you
don't know the original. Just in case, though, I'm sending an OB link.

Though it's rock, you may like it. It has a brassy arrangement that
reminds me of a bluesband, and the lead guitar thingy sounds more jazz
than rock to me. I hope that makes it more interesting to you.

Not having clicked the link yet, I'm guessing it's either Chicago or Matchbox 20.

Thanks. It needs a bump, though; so let me tell you what I'm starting
off here. I got the idea after I was trolled into posting "Usenet's
Greatest Poet" on aapc, and it ended up on the front page there for weeks.

Now that I was posting poetry again, I had to find some to post. I
top-posted a couple of limericks (which have also been bumping on and
off the front page). By then I'd remembered the "April" section of
/Doggerel/, full of similar satires. None of it can be read at present,
and here's a way to introduce it to people who haven't read it or have
forgotten it.

This is the first poem in "April" (following the title tercet). It isn't
a satire on anyone, but it's about writing and its difficulty, so it
belonged in the "poetry" section. (April's National Poetry Month in our
two countries, but you probably knew that).

The "Wayward Muse", as I often refer to her.

Interesting coincidence, I was discussing the music scene of the early 1970s here with a friend who is a decade older than me and Chicago Transit Authority, as Chicago was known at first, came up.

Turns out that in their very early days, Chicago Transit Authority played here at a small rock and roll club called Hallabaloo, must have been 1969 or 1970, a fact that I never knew until this week.

Shame there weren't any photo's; cameras were a luxury in the deep south, back then. Plenty of ho's, no photos, as they used to say.

Oct 29, 1969 Chicago / Joe Cocker / Santana Municipal Auditorium Atlanta, Georgia, United States

They never played in Columbus.
