Oh, Adam, how can you tell such lies!

Everyone - or at least everyone who is "progressive" - knows that GUNS
ARE EVOL, each and every one of them, and that the idea of stopping a
bad guy with a gun of your own is a total myth concocted by the Evol Gun
Lobby! Even if such a thing happens, it is so freakishly rare as to be
incredible and is more than offset by all the times that the defender
does more harm than good, by shooting innocent bystanders for instance.
And even if it doesn't in a particular case, you've ended the life of a
guy who was loved by everyone despite some minor flaws and brushes with
the law and who was in the midst of turning his life around.

Yes, "permit holder" was left out even though it's there later in the
headline. It's dreadful.

I don't get the concept of "concealment" in gun law. I've been told that
one might wear a holster on one's hip but if the gun handle is covered
by a vest or jacket but the rest of the holster isn't covered in any
way, that's a violation of concealed carry law.

I don’t know if the gun sitting on the seat beside you and your car is
concealed by the car itself or if you’d have to stick it in your glove box
or something. That would certainly be concealed. The important thing for
this guy is that he had a carry permit.

My state has two permits: the long-standing Firearm Owner's ID card, and
the more recent concealed carry permit. I still don't understand how
open carry works.

I can’t help you because I live in the wild wild West where anybody of age
that can legally own a gun can open carry and anybody of a slightly greater
age they can legally own a gun can concealed carry. And yet we have
concealed carry permits and I have no idea why.
