Nothing.

What did you watch?

Animatronics? You mean like the Johnny Cab? I thought all of that was
fine. It was practical effects so it was all really there.

I watched:

Better Call Saul - "Waterworks" - Penultimate episode. It was OK. With
all the online chatter I've been avoiding, I thought it was the series
finale.

Shadow in the Cloud (Netflix disc rental) 2021 movie set during WWII and
starring Chloë Grace Moretz as a mysterious woman who shows up with
orders to join a bomber crew and deliver a top secret package. The crew
is already suspicious of her but become more suspicious when their plane
starts to come under an attack by a gremlin. Of course, no one believes
there is a gremlin. It's an OK movie. I found it watchable. Very low
budget, but watchable.

This was yet another movie that I rented on disc, but could have
streamed on Hulu. I finally broke down and called Netflix about
cancelling my disc membership and asked about options. The guy I spoke
looked up my history and saw I've been with the company for over two
decades and rented over 2,500 movies. He said if I cancel my membership
I will lose my rental history, but added there are a lot of people like
me who use Netflix mainly for the rental history and won't cancel for
that reason alone. He said they have another option (not listed on the
website) of only 2 discs a month for $5.99 or I can just suspend my
membership for 9 months at a time then renew for a month then suspend it
again. When my current plan ends I'll be probably be switching to 2
discs a month. I do *need* my rental history!

The Sandman (Netflix steaming) "Collectors" - Penultimate episode - The
evil Nightmare attends a convention of serial killers where he fits
right in, especially since he's the guest of honor. Meanwhile Morpheus
has to prevent the Vortex from destroying the dream and real world.

"Lost Hearts" - Season finale which wraps everything up and teases a
possible season 2 rematch between Morpheus and The Devil.

Locke & Key (Netflix streaming) - "The Snow Globe" - Season three kicks
off with the family finding a new key. And with having absolutely no
idea what it does the mom and kid promptly used it. Serves them right
what happened next. Seriously, you never use a magic key if you don't
know what the magic key does! No sympathy from me.

"Wedding Crashers" - Once again they find yet another new key, this one
in a clock with an hourglass. I'm pretty sure it has something to do
with time travel... So of course, Bodey decides to give it a try
without knowing exactly what it does. Turns out it has something to do
with time travel...

"Five Minutes Past" - Bodey decides to mess around with his new time
travel key and bad things happen to him... GOOD!

I am sick and tired of them finding keys they don't understand then just
randomly trying them out to see what happens. I still can't get over
what just happened. This kid time travels to the past where he
encounters last season's big bad. He sees a major battle between his
family and the big bad they all stop the fight when he magically appears
out of nowhere. He then tells the big bad I've traveled from the
future, I know how this ends, we're going win. He actually said this,
out loud, then was surprised when the big bad from last season realizing
not only did they lose, but this kid from the future is bragging about
it and has the ability to time travel, an ability that is easily taken
away.

Now he's just a disembodied spirit with a demon running around in his
body. Serves him right! Stop messing around with keys you don't
understand.

Resident Alien, Season 2, Episode 9. It's FINALLY back and, as I
expected, it's so long since they ran the 1st part of the season, that
even the quick recap at the beginning didn't help me reorient myself to
where we were in the story. I'm probably going to have to rewatch at
least all of Season 2 to get the flow back. I may simply accumulate the
remaining episodes of Season 2 then rewatch the whole damned season in a
binge once I have the last episode....

You ask your uncle who used the keys when he was a kid and knows what
they do. And in the unlikely event he doesn't know what it does, then
*maybe* you use it, but make sure there are people around to save you if
something goes wrong. But the uncle knew exactly what the time key does
and even warned the brat not to use it.

Almost every time something goes wrong it's because someone is off using
a key they don't understand by themselves.

Has the uncle remembered what they all do?

Yes. I'm not sure if it was in season 1 or season 2, but he remembers.
He's been fully aware since the start of the season. So has the mom,
although she doesn't really know much other than magic exists.

The other thing I can't wrap my head around is how in every other
episode the house is coming under attack from demons, yet they have *no*
defenses against attacks on that house.

Although I forget if *maybe* there was some sort of magical defense in
season 1 that fell, but I doubt it.

But don't get me started on the great great (how ever many greats)
grandfather, who knows everything. They can just go talk to him and get
all the answers they want, yet they never do. They've completely memory
holed him.

I know he got his memoryback of him and his brother using the keys, but
wasn't certain he knew what each individual key was for. Especially as
the kids seem to find ones he hadn't seen before.

I think they explained it, but I don't remember, where do the keys keep
coming from? I know they were all made by an ancestor, but why/how do
they just magically appear in a new hiding place if lost?

I have no idea if anyone knew about the snow globe key. And why would
you even make a key that does that?!? But the uncle definitely knew
about the time travel key. He was well aware of how it worked.

I was with them up until the last ep. I'll wait till I find your
mention of that before commenting on it, though.

I was pleasantly surprised by this series. As with _The Watchmen_, I
had not read the comics/graphic novels it was based on, so I didn't have
any preconceptions to complain about, but where I found _The Watchmen_
a bit tedious on the whole, I wanted to see more of _The Sandman_.
