We have constant ads against this that don’t make any sense at all. They
claim that if the bill passes all tech will cease to exist along with your
cell phones and such. It is sponsored by new democracy.democrat which
Wikipedia says are the adherents of chairman Mao!

They start with what sounds like a synthetic voice (they come in both only
sort of accented and heavily Hispanic accented versions) saying:

“let’s get one thing perfectly clear. Nobody gets here”
(show map of Arizona)
“without starting here“
(show google search being made over map of Washington DC)
The phone voice says to head west on Independence Avenue and the map shows
Indiana Jones state lines headed out to Arizona and Nevada and California.

I have no idea what the fuck that possibly means.

I and then they name our various congresspeople and tell us to call them
and have them kill this bill or we won’t be able to talk to each other or
buy milk or anything ever again.

In California, all the political ads-- and I mean constant on every TV channel
and before every YouTube video you watch-- are all about two dueling ballot
propositions. The big Vegas casino moguls have one to legalize online betting
in California. And the Indian tribes are throwing a fit, saying "You can't do
that because gambling is our thing and we don't want competition!", so they
have a competing ballot proposal that will also legalize online betting but
give the Indians sole control over all of it in the state.

I don't gamble, so I couldn't care less about that, but the Indians' proposal
is pretty damn ridiculous. The idea that a private group can just ask the
voters to give them sole control over an entire industry just because they're
enjoying a huge pile of money and don't want competition is arrogant in the
extreme. It'd be like if Toyota put up a ballot measure that says, "Cars are
our thing and we want to be the only ones allowed to sell them in California
because having to compete is annoying and takes away from our ability to buy
mansions and yachts and stuff, so do us a solid and make it law please."

I saw a cute thing today on the nearest major Street corner where they have
a whole bunch of political signs. One is a woman running for something and
there’s a sign about a third the sizes of hers that says OWNED BY POLICE
UNIONS with a big arrow pointing at her sign.

My state wins! My state wins!

This is the constitutional amendment we're voting upon at referendum in
November. The report was written by a friend. Here's a summary:

https://www.illinoispolicy.org/press-releases/what-is-amendment-1-an-illinois-constitutional-amendment-on-the-ballot-next-november/

This is the nonpartisan "blue ballot" that's supposed to be mailed to
every voter, but I haven't received it yet.

Indian tribes? From India? Leave it to Eunuch Derp to wallow in ignorance.

It would make far more sense to end the government unions altogether
than to give them effectively unlimited power. They have too much power
NOW and giving them still more would be nuts.s>

I don't see how the limit on the governments ability to limit what the
union can do will stand up to any legal scrutiny. It would seem to
suggest that the government can't impose any limit on the unions going
forward. Which would also suggest that the amendment could never be
voted out once implemented. So the only authority that might be able
to limit the unions would be the courts but only citizens could bring
an action against the amendment as the government is forbidden from
taking any action against the unions (and hence the amendment giving
them this power.)

I can't imagine the writers thought this would have a chance at
surviving legal scrutiny so what were they thinking?

We aren't even on the playing field with the two of you and your
states.

The Georgia State Legislature referred two constitutional amendments
to the ballot:

an amendment to suspend pay for certain public officials if they
are suspended from office for being indicted for a felony and
an amendment to allow local governments to grant temporary tax
relief to certain properties that are damaged or destroyed due to a
disaster.

Before going to DragonCon, I was constantly exposed to this weird political

he's babbling about! I guess he think illegal aliens should get Green
