This is the Part 4 of the Top 10 TV Stories of the 2021-22 TV season.
7. NBC's Olympic sized headache
Time was, the Olympics was a experience everyone was watching (read the 1984 LA and 1996 Atlanta games). The Tokyo Games -- delayed a year due to COVID-19 - was held before virtually empty crowds. The big star was supposed to be gymnast Simone Biles, but she pulled out citing mental health reasons. The ratings for NBC dipped to all time lows (USA carried the games around the clock with the exception of WWE programming). The Beijing Winter Olympics was held before empty stadiums, and despite the fact that Super Bowl LVI took place at the same time (NBC said it was "once in a lifetime"), ratings also dipped. The big worry for NBC for the 2024 Paris games is that they won't have many marketable stars (Biles, Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt, etc.) to draw viewers.

8. This quiz show emerged from scandal to continue popularity.

In September, following a dizzying array of guest hosts after the death of Alex Trebek, it returned with executive producer Mike Richards taking over the host duties. But derogatory remarks about women led to him being ousted from both jobs. "The Greatest of All Time" Ken Jennings and Mayim Blalik took over the duties, with both splitting time. Meanwhile, contestants appeared that could give Jennings a run for his money. Matt Amodio won 38 games and over $1.5 million. Amy Schneider won 40 games and over a million. Mattea Roach won 24 games. Ryan Long won 16 games. In the spring, it won Outstanding Game/Audience Participation Show at the Daytime Emmys. If you said, "What is Jeopardy!?", you won the game!
