I just watched the first ep. Glad I did it before reading this thread
and having that spoiled for me. I didn't see it coming.

Didn't realize she was returning. With the other two originals bailing,
I thought this show was left with only the new characters. They must
have thrown a ton of money at Helgenberger to come back and give them an
ongoing tie to the original.

I looked. She's constantly busy. I suspect your ton of money theory
is correct.
