A group of engineers has written an article describing how cubesats
could be used to display ads - or at least product logos - in the night
sky over major markets.

The video runs 20 minutes in total but the relevant bit starts at about
5:20 and runs to about 8:00.

I agree with the presenter: I'm already unhappy about the cubesats
messing with the observations of astronomers even if we can't see them
with the naked eye. I will be appalled when the night sky turns into a
billboard flogging dubious crap or, indeed, anything at all. Let's
preserve at least one place in its natural state rather than plastering
it with ads!!

Yeah, I saw this and my immediate thought was that killer satellites
may not be the bad idea I thought they were. Certainly I would want to
kill such a thing as soon as I saw it. We've seen the mess that the
advertising world can become in futuristic worlds like Bladerunner.
It's bad enough when signs are on every building flashing away, but
then to have the blimps floating overheard with constant ads (much
like this idea of using cube sats.)
