Makeup supply chain Ulta Beauty was hit with calls for boycott over a
company podcast episode of biological male/transgender influencer/actor
Dylan Mulvaney discussing “girlhood” and motherhood with host David Lopez, a
“gender-fluid” hairdresser.

The podcast episode, titled “The Beauty of Girlhood with Dylan Mulvaney,”
received backlash from customers accusing Ulta of making a mockery of
womanhood. Ulta has notably turned off comments on the YouTube video of the
episode.

“I can find love, I know I can still be a performer, I know I can have a
family — I wanna be a mom one day, and I absolutely can,” Mulvaney asserted
in a clip of the episode promoted by Ulta. “And that’s why the narrative
still has a long way to go, because, when I was grieving ‘Boy Dylan,’ I
didn’t even know those things were accessible to me.”

‘There’s much shame, so much stigma. I had this idea of trans-people and it
was weird because I knew I was trans yet had transphobia of myself,” the
influencer added.

Women online said they would no longer spend any money on the beauty supply
chain, while others called for a boycott from others, too.

“I really think more women need to wake up to this nonsense,” one person
posted. “I think too many of us have stayed quiet because we don’t want to
hurt feelings and are too concerned with being polite. I’ve had enough. I’m
not going to be quiet. #womanface is disrespectful. #boycottulta.”

Ulta was hit with so much backlash the company hid dozens of negative
replies.

“So you’d have a white man in blackface advertise your products then?” one
person questioned in a now-hidden reply. “Is that respecting everyone?
Because it sure looks like a slap in the face to your primarily female
customer base to have this insulting caricature of womanhood represent you.
I won’t shop with you again.”

“Dylan seems desperate to monetize s***,” another hidden reply said. “Not
sure why Ulta would go on board. He is doing a mockery of women. Won’t be
spending another dime with you.”

“We are trying to point out that Mulvaney’s entire social media presence is
a mockery of womanhood and firmly grounded in harmful sex stereotypes,”
someone else posted. “And also that it’s VERY creepy for an adult male to
keep calling himself a ‘girl.’”

“[Two] adult men talking about their experiences with ‘girlhood,’” someone
else said in a reply that is now hidden by Ulta. “Please explain the
difference between womanface and blackface, because I can’t see one.”

How many replies are you going to hide, @ultabeauty?

Conservative author and podcast host Allie Beth Stuckey comments, “‘I want
to be a mother one day, and I absolutely can.’ No, you cannot. You can buy
all the eggs, rent all the wombs, and wear all the makeup you want, but you
cannot be a mother. And that’s ok. Accept who you are and don’t try to be
something you can’t.”

Responding to critics, Stuckey added, “‘So you’re saying adoption isn’t
motherhood???’ Gah, y’all are so dense. Yes, a woman who adopts is a mother.
A man who puts on a dress isn’t. Hope this helps.”

Others online highlighted videos from Mulvaney that they deemed offensive.
“In case you’re wondering why such a visceral reaction to this thread, many
of us are aware of just how disrespected we are by this person. Barbie
pouch??? This must stop,” one person said, linking to video of the
influencer calling a woman’s vagina a “Barbie pouch.”

“Day 75 of being a girl – I’ve been carrying around tampons and pads for the
past two months but I’ve never actually opened one up, so let’s do it.
Woohoo!” Mulvaney said. “I thought the letters stood for small, medium and
large based on the size of your ‘Barbie pouch’ but after Googling I found
out it’s actually the level of your flow.”

— oliver (@pileapop) June 24, 2022

“Is this what you think ‘girlhood’ is?” another post said, captioning video
of Mulvaney being a “girl” in “nature” and literally falling down over the
sight of an insect.

Ulta Beauty is working overtime to shut up their critics and standing by an
offensive transgender video on "girlhood" and motherhood that triggered calls
to boycott the makeup supply chain.

A company podcast episode, titled "The Beauty of Girlhood with Dylan
Mulvaney," featured biologically male transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney
and host David Lopez, a "gender-fluid" hairdresser, speaking about female
issues. When the content sparked an onslaught of backlash, Ulta turned off
comments on its YouTube and Instagram accounts hosting the episode, and hid
dozens of angry replies from its Twitter account.

"The premise of 'The Beauty Of...' [podcast] is to feature conversations that
widen the lens surrounding traditional beauty standards," Ulta said in a
statement further defending the episode. "We believe beauty is for everyone.
And while we recognize some conversations we host will challenge perspectives
and opinions, we believe constructive dialogue is one important way to move
beauty forward."

"The intersectionality of gender identity is nuanced, something David and
Dylan acknowledge themselves within the episode," the company added.
"Regardless of how someone identifies, they deserve our respect."

Mulvaney claimed during the episode that being a mother was "absolutely"
something the influencer could achieve, adding that thinking otherwise is
"transphobia."

"I know can find love, I know I can still be a performer, I know I can have a
family -- I wanna be a mom one day, and I _absolutely can_," the actor said.
"And that's why the narrative still has a long way to go, because when I was
grieving 'Boy Dylan,' I didn't even know those things were accessible to me."

"There's much shame, so much stigma. I had this idea of trans-people and it
was weird because I knew I was trans yet had transphobia of myself," Mulvaney
added.

Dozens of now-hidden replies from upset females called out the beauty company
for effectively mocking women.

"So you'd have a white man in blackface advertise your products then?" one
person questioned. "Is that respecting everyone? Because it sure looks like a
slap in the face to your primarily female customer base to have this insulting
caricature of womanhood represent you. I won't shop with you again."

"We believe dialogue is the way to move forward, which is why we're disabling
comments on all our accounts."

Apparently 'dialogue' in this company means 'listen to what we say and shut
up'.

Or, it could mean "No comments that discourage dialogue" ...which might
well be characteristic of an 'onslaught of backlash'.

Apparently you 'don't get out much' and haven't heard about this trend
in society:

According to Cambridge Dictionary, the saying 'any publicity is good
publicity' or 'there's no such thing as bad publicity' is said to
emphasise that it is better that something receives bad publicity than
no publicity at all.Jul 30, 2019

The Daily Wire's Candace Owens roasted Ulta Beauty over its "girlhood"
podcast featuring "two biological men" talking about what it's like being a
girl as they dress "up like a woman and pretend that that suddenly makes you
so."

Owens made the comments Tuesday during the "Candace Owens" show in an episode
titled, "This Bizarre and Freaky Fetish is Taking Over American Politics."
During the podcast, she discussed the cosmetic company's latest video titled,
"The Beauty of Girlhood with Dylan Mulvaney."

The cosmetic company's video featured biological male transgender actor and
influencer Mulvaney wearing a wig, a bow, and a "bright red dress" talking to
another biological adult man, David Lopez, "a gender-bending" host with a
beard, wearing a long blonde hair wig, talking about a dream about having a
family and being a mom one day.

"And so they are basically on this podcast mocking what it means to be a
woman," Owens explained on her show. "As I say, now what it is become a
caricature. This is Halloween. ... They're playing Halloween on a podcast and
both of them are appearing dressed as women."

need so much attention, right? How desperate you must be...on

woman...That is embarrassing." pic.twitter.com/s8P7awYXBu

-- Daily Wire (@realDailyWire) October 18, 2022

"'We're talking all things girly' as two grown men that have some form, some
varying forms of mental illness," she added. "Really what their mental
illness is attention. That's what it is. There aren't all these weird
categories of things to identify as that suddenly appeared in our society
rapidly over the last five years."

"But now rapidly everybody's got something going on," the host continued.
"And everyone's being given awards and podcasts for talking heroically about
their experiences. Their experience they should be talking about is what it's
like to need so much attention, right? How desperate you must be to be so
extreme on social media for likes that you dress yourself up like a woman and
pretend that that suddenly makes you so. That is embarrassing and it needs to
stop."

The beauty company faced a backlash over the episode featuring the adult
biological men, with customers blasting Ulta of making a mockery of
womanhood. Ulta turned off comments on the YouTube video of the episode, as
The Daily Wire previously reported.
