I wrote poetry for a small group of hospitalized veterans for over thirty years,
BUT they have all passed away, SO the only people who read me anymore are
here, AND by “here” I mean in my presence, WHICH of course doesn’t include
you, ALTHOUGH I cannot prove that I am not alone right now, writing this for
someone other than you, SO it is perfectly reasonable for you to think that
this is a poem that was written specifically for you, WHEN in fact it wasn’t.
