It pains me to say that Teegarden has not aged well. When she was 20,
she was stunning. Now, mid-30s, she's just kind of... OK/meh.

Yep. He's the guy behind the "Foyle's War" TV show. He has also written
a sequel book called "The Moonflower Murders", but currently no word on
whether or not that / a Magpie Murders season 2 will be made.

Got this second season ready to watch, but haven't started it yet. The
first season was quite good.

We saw this a while ago. It's okay, but perhaps slightly weird (she
keeps seeing and talking to the character in the book) and not quite as
good as many other UK detective dramas.

Seen this one too. It's much better. It's similar to "Shetland", etc.,
but a little more light-hearted. Slightly ruined by Nicola Wlaker's
character talking to the camera / viewing audience.

Just started watching this one. More of the same Doc Martin, but,
although it does follow-on from the previous season, there has been a
couple of years time jump since the last episode, which is a little
disconcerting, e.g. last season's baby is now four years old and they
"suddenly" have a new baby.

Considering that Horowitz is one of the best screenwriters around
("Foyle's War"anyone?), it's hard to read it any other way! (:-))

This aside, the thread has been split into three threads (again!)
because people keep using smart (curly) apostrophes in the header.
Usenet is text-based, so the "¹s" in the header becomes "€™s", and so
Robin's reads Robin€™s.

Smart quotes are not appropriate here, even if (and especially if)
you're accessing via Google Groups. Please stop using smart quotes in
the headers.

Yeah, that was odd. Sometimes I forgot which story was which. Some of
the actors played characters in both, which didn't help.

I liked it anyway. Wasn't a lot different than in Burn Notice, giving
the audience 'spy tips'.

I de-MIME'ed anim's Subject, then translated it into pure ASCII.
You can do it too.

Take Subject from the root article. This is called encoded word.

=?UTF-8?Q?Oct=2E=2015-21:=20Robin=E2=80=99s=20selected?==?UTF-8?Q?=20programming=20(=20=20part=201)?==?UTF-8?Q?Oct=2E=2015-21:=20Robin=E2=80=99s=20selected?==?UTF-8?Q?=20programming=20(=20=20part=201)?=

Run it through

https://dogmamix.com/MimeHeadersDecoder/

which turns it into unencoded non-ASCII characters.

Then take that result and run it through

https://dan.hersam.com/tools/smart-quotes.php

which figures out ASCII replacements for certain non-ASCII characters,
including single and double open and close quote.

I don't always remember to do it and sometimes I get lazy.

I think it's like BET. It shows syndicated reruns of black cast sitcoms
among other things. If you need to record The Cosby Show it's for you.

"TV One" used to be the name of one of the government owned channels in
New Zealand. They later changed the name to just "One". (Now the idiots
who have bought up "Vodafone New Zealand" have changed that company
name to "One", which will cause some confusion.)

anim

=?UTF-8?Q?Oct=2E=2015-21:=20Robin=E2=80=99s=20selected?==?UTF-8?Q?=20programming=20(=20=20part=201)?=

anim and A Friend

The encoding changed as the standard "Re: " Subject tag for a followup
was also encoded.

=?UTF-8?Q?Re:=20Oct=2E=2015-21:=20Robin=E2=80=99s=20selected?==?UTF-8?Q?=20programming=20(=20part=201)?=

suzeeq and Pete

The encoding is equivalent but different enough that most newsreaders
will see it as a change of Subject.

=?UTF-8?Q?Re=3a_Oct=2e_15-21=3a_Robin=e2=80=99s_selected_programmin?==?UTF-8?Q?g_=28_part_1=29?=

Ian did two equivalent but different encodings on Subject

=?utf-8?Q?Re:_Oct._15-21:_Robin=E2=80=99s_selected_programming_(_part_1)?=

=?utf-8?Q?Re:_Oct._15-21:_Robin=E2=80=99s_selected_programming_(__part_1)?=

Your Name, retained in followup by A Friend

This is nonstandard. Your Name declared ISO-8859-1 (Latin 1) but open
and close single and double quotes are not part of that character set.
It substitutes three glyphs for "unmatched character code" error.

=?iso-8859-1?Q?Re:_Re0_Oct__15-210_Robin=02=80=99s_selected_programming_(_part_1)?=

suzeeq as changed in followup declaring UTF-8 now using binary encoding
for a portion of it with the symbol that means "character code cannot be
matched to glyph" now substituted and two other glyphs were matched to
the character code, but not what anim had intended.

=?UTF-8?B?UmU6IFJlMCBPY3QgMTUtMjEwIFJvYmluAuKCrOKEonMgc2VsZWN0ZWQg?==?UTF-8?Q?programming_=28_part_1=29?=

Adam decoded anim's Subject then substitute pure ASCII for non-ASCII
characters, and prepended "Re: " Subject tag which is standard in a
followup; this was retained in followup by suzeeq

Re: Oct. 15-21: Robin's selected programming (part 1)

Another nonstandard Subject changed in followup by Your Name

=?iso-8859-1?Q?Re:_Oct._15-21:_Robin=3Fs_selected_programming_(__part_1)?=

Which suzeeq changed to this

Re: Oct. 15-21: Robin?s selected programming ( part 1)

The "?" is an ASCII substitution for the character that Your Name failed
to encode correctly.

This is going to be another one of those Lifetime movies all about
prostitution but which never actually even comes close to any decent
scenes of hot women unclothed and/or having The Sex.

I watched one about a year ago, which starred the beautiful Jana Kramer
as the hooker-turned-madam and you could barely tell the thing was even
about sex, they sanitized it so much.

How exactly does one "pursue their dreams of becoming a witch" if they
have no magical ability?

Lemme guess... it's all about 'white supremacy', even though the
majority of documented hate attacks on Asians over the last three years
have been perpetrated by blacks.

Jana Kramer was the madam in that one (it's literally titled "Soccer
Mom Madam"!), so she was never going to get nekkid! (Neither Leah
Gibson, unfortunately... :( )

But I definitely would have appreciated some naked nudity from Jessica
Sipos and Samantha Di Francesco, which would should have gotten!!

Well, something's trying to decode the MIME instead of just treating it
like code.

It turns the color coding of the quote levels and the text to the same
color or color so similar they may as well be the same and you end up just
getting stripes of color instead of a message
