I was wondering the other day if the PC intelligentsia had extended the
scourge of racism from painting one's face a different color to include all
masks as well.

Would a white person wearing a Bill Cosby mask score equally high on the Prog
Scale of Self-Righteous Outrage as painting one's actual skin to look like
Cosby? Would wearing a Black Panther mask be equivalent to blackface since we
all know the man beneath that mask is black and therefore you're a white guy
pretending to be a black guy?

And if a black guy wears a Donald Trump mask or paints himself to look like
Trump, are we allowed to be just as outraged at this offensive display of
whiteface? Or is this another one of those "it's only racist when white people
do it" things?

> It's Halloween. Maybe one day people can have fun with it again without all

I'm close to conceding defeat to the PC lunatics. They've pretty much soured
me on most holidays in general. It seems like no matter the holiday, the
nutcases of every kind come out of the woodwork to try their best and make it
miserable for everyone else.

With Halloween, we have the lunatic progs who declare every conceivable
costume choice or party theme offensive and racist. We have the dipshit
religious conservatives who think letting your kid dress up as a vampire or a
ghost or Captain America and ask neighbors for candy is tantamount to them
placing themselves directly into the service of Lucifer himself. And we have
the safety mavens whose goal it is to bubble wrap the entire world and/or to
force all of society to conform their Halloween activities to only those
things in which the most afflicted in society can participate.

In my own neighborhood last year, in the days leading up to Halloween, flyers
were stapled to every light pole which read:

ATTENTION PARENTS

My son has severe allergies and comes home every year devastated that he can't
eat any of the candy he collects at your homes while out trick-or-treating.
Don't exclude my child (or any other child) from the fun.

This Halloween, practice responsible parenting and do not distribute candy
containing nuts of any kind, gluten, or dairy.

Be mindful of everyone's child.

Here are some tasty and allergy-conscience (sic) suggestions:

Carrot sticks (fun to eat, healthy, and easy on the teeth)
Smarties
Necco Wafers
Lifesavers
Brach's Lemon Drops
Raisins (but stay away from Raisinettes!!!)

-------
So an entire community is supposed to forego what their kids like and enjoy to
cater to your kid's extreme allergies? And if I choose to hand out Snickers
bars or Reese's Peanut Butter Cups because that's what, you know, everyone
likes, then I'm de facto being an irresponsible parent? Just fuck the hell
off, why dontcha?

And every holiday is like this now. There's always someone who thinks holidays
are a golden opportunity to push their worldview on everyone else.

Columbus Day and Thanksgiving are replete with progressive handwringing over
"celebrating the slaughter of native culture".

The 4th of July always has some leftist group bemoaning all the offensive
displays of "nationalism" and love for America and how it offends immigrants,
who apparently have risked life and limb to come here-- legally or illegally--
but are nevertheless inexplicably offended and scared by the sight of the
American flag and people extolling its virtues.

Christmas pretty much speaks for itself. The yearly litany of schools, stores,
and every public space either being protested for celebrating Christmas or
pre-emptively sanitizing themselves of everything Christmasy in favor of
generic "winter holiday celebrations" so they won't have to deal with being
protested.

The only holiday I can think of that's still controversy-free is New Years
Day. Probably because it's hard to be offended by the simple rolling over of
the calendar to the next year. Although I'm sure the progs are working on a
way to be offended by that, too. Maybe tied to the Euro-centric calendar
itself: "It's offensive to celebrate New Years Day on January 1, because
that's the white man's calendar", or something equally insipid.

I dunno - my ancestors fought in the War of 1812 against the British
(yup - they were from upstate NY) and while I'm well aware the British
had native auxiliaries (I went to university close by the home reserve
of one of their major leaders after all) I'm not aware that my NY
state militia ancestors who served withheld fire upon any of them for
that reason!

As a eunuch anonyshit I'm not surprised. You and "Rich" don't have a
smattering of genitalia between you. (If you did it would be between
the two of you anyway, not that there's anything wrong with that.)

How are they gonna stop it?

Beverly Hills tried "canceling" Halloween during the Wuhan Flu-- because
kids (who almost universally don't get the disease) running around
outside (where it's virtually impossible to catch the disease) were some
kind of apocalyptic danger to public health, dontcha know.

It went over as well you'd think it would. Residents completely ignored
the city council's edict and the police patrol cars driving around
announcing over the P.A. that walking around their neighborhood was
illegal. So the city eventually gave up. And as you'd expect, there was
no devastating outbreak of Wuhan Flu because kids trick-or-treated.

Heh heh - well having kept our lights off for Halloween 2020 and 2021
we are getting ready to hand out candy and already have a Halloween
welcome mat at our door.

Our neighbors tell us the "kid count" was WAY down both years in any
case. We think our candy is extra nice this year :)
