be kill-filed by excluding any post with a comma in
the Newsgroups line. But most usenet readers can't
do that because they use Google Groups. But it's
still wrong to apologize for the spammers because
theircrossposted messages (along with others) can

My stupid newsreader just posted it like that,
deleting spaces and running words together. I
always write sentences with two spaces between and
not a mere single space.

Thunderbird is BROKEN for macs. The updates broke it
and I tried in vain to use an earlier version. It
crashes and won't allow most newsgroups or headers
to be downloaded to the reader. It also has the
stupid design flaw of keeping the server information
hidden: there is no option or command to display the
newsreader server.

Trotsky won't see this post because it's crossposted
to news.software.readers and his kill-file won't
let him see it.

I tried using Thunderbird (which I have used quite satisfactorily for
years for e-mail) for newsgroups but couldn't get it to do what I
wanted and have been using Agent since 1.93.

cross-posted spam.
Luckily it's not a problem since I've got over 2 dozen filters to help

I've had good luck using a * - like alt.politics.* or alt.fan*

I've got a lot of filters in place, and realized that I don't need
individual entries for each name, just lump them together under 'troll'
or 'spam'.

full utility? I've got certain Usenet sites blocked based on the Path

If you are using the trn newsreader as you say you are, you have full
flexibility. I've yet to come across a trn properly installed this century
that actually works without incessant crashing and losing posts by marking
them read when they were falsely reported "unavailable". Of course,
you could be using a different newsreader and just including a line saying
you're using trn.

I tried again and (for some odd reason) the filter is *finally* removing
cross-posted spam. This will help to keep the clutter down!
