I don't see Daredevil as "woke", just an interesting take on the superhero
genre but by your definition, maybe Captain America? Steve Rogers
was a scrawny weakling before the Super Solider serum turned him into
a bad ass.

But I'm sure there are earlier examples, as superheroes are supposed
to appeal to kids who all feel constrained by grownups and want to be
powerful.

'Captain Marvel, Jr.' comes quickly to mind.

Dr. Mid-Nite, who debuted in 1941, was blind, although he devised a way
to be able to see.

So, no, Daredevil wasn't the first.
