I watched:

WE ARE THE 80'S

WE ARE THE 80'S

WE ARE THE 80'S

WE ARE THE 80'S

THE LOVE BOAT:
This ep seemed to have a newlywed theme.
"Family Reunion". Colonel Hogan, a rakish steward, discovers the
wife of honeymooning newlyweds is his long lost daughter. Oddly
enough, when we first meet him, Captain Stubing chews him out for not
using the employee entrance.
"Too Hot to Handle". A pair of honeymooning newlyweds have
incredibly bad luck; the husband injures his back carrying his wife
into their cabin, the wife gets a bad case of sunburn, the husband
catches poison ivy on an excursion, and the wife discovers she's on
the wrong boat after another excursion, proving once again that this
ocean liner has the worst security ever!
"Cinderella Story". After the crew give a pair of impoverished
newlyweds an unofficial upgrade without asking Captain Stubing, they
are mistaken for the hot-shot advertising executive who were
originally booked but failed to show up by the Captain and some other
ad executives. Why did the crew feel the need to deceive Captain
Stubing? I don't see why he would have objected. It all turns out well
in the end, for the husband's years of being a grocery clerk provides
him with an "on the street" insight into advertising. Yeah, whatever.

THE LOVE BOAT:
"Friends and Lovers". Gopher poses as Julie's lover to fend off his former
frat brother Rick.
"Sergeant Bull". Army buddies reunite with their sergeant Harry and
introduce him to stewardess Rose.
"Miss Mother". Gwen fears Dennis won't react well to her pregnancy news.

THE LOVE BOAT:
"No More Alimony". Alan Thicke is sick of paying alimony so he comes
aboard to make sure ex-wife Michelle Phillips actually ties the knot
with fianc Fred Willard and it ends exactly the way you think it
would.
"How Do I Love Thee?". Rue McClanahan plays an old friend of the
captain who gets routinely beaten by Dick Van Patten. In the end she
decides she has too much time invested in him to give him up and goes
off to continue getting the beatings she so richly deserves while he
gets counseling. I was surprised they "went there".
"Authoress, Authoress". Carol Channing and Betty White want to get a
book about their lives published to get rich but end up not doing it
because they have a lot of inbred hick relatives in the Ozarks that
would find the book amusing. Quite frankly, the publisher deserved that
after making those Crooked Hillary-esque statements and not shutting
up.

THE LOVE BOAT:
Scandinavia cruise!
"Girl of the Midnight Sun". An actress tries to trick an advertising
exec that she's Swedish for his "Swedish Sun" tanning lotion.
"There'll Be Some Changes Made". Jack Krugman wants a nose job but a
woman who has fallen in love with him thinks he's getting a sex change
operation.
"Mr. Smith Goes to Stockholm". Gopher falls in love with a Swedish
heiress.
"Too Many Isaacs". Telly Savalas plots a robbery with an Isaac
android, with the help of Janet Jackson.

LIFE, LIBERTY, AND LEVIN:
Mark breaks down the midterm elections and is joined by candidates in key
races including, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Republican U.S. Senate candidate in
Pennsylvania, Blake Masters, Republican U.S. Senate candidate in Arizona, Lee
Zeldin, Republican Gubernatorial candidate in New York and Ted Budd,
Republican U.S. Senate candidate in North Carolina.

THE NEXT REVOLUTION WITH STEVE HILTON:
A talk show focusing on government, politics and the impact of the populist
movement in the U.S. and around the world.

This will be a multiday catch-up. Over the last few days I watched:

Star Trek: Prodigy (Paramount+) - The crew encounter the Borg. I liked
that thanks to be animated they were able to do more non humanoid Borg
drones.

Law & Order - Caught up on all three franchises.

Atlanta - "Andrew Wyeth. Alfred's World" - I have *no* idea what the
episode title means. But the episode description says, "They always
making Paper Boi go through something." Now that I've watched the
episode I do agree, they always making Paper Boi go through something.

Interview With the Vampire - "Like Angels Put in Hell by God" - The
vampires continue their weird love triangle. The show is holding up well.

American Horror Story: NYC - A couple more episodes. So far I'm not
liking this season. There seem to be two or three disconnected plots
and the show is going nowhere fast. Plus worse of all, there are no
likeable characters.

Ghosts - "The Baby Bjorn" - The show humorously asks the question why do
ghosts walk through walls but don't fall through chairs then doesn't
answer it.

Cobra Kai (Netflix streaming) - I watched a few more episodes. So far
the season is going very well. They also brought in Robyn Lively who
played the love interest in Karate Kid III and Sean Kanan who was one of
the main villains in Karate Kid III to reprise their characters. I love
how the show continues to bring back the original actors.

The Peripheral (Amazon streaming) - "Jackpot" - Another good episode and
it answers or confirms a lot of questions. In addition to confirming
most of humanity is wiped out in the future (including exactly how and
why) it also confirms that they are very much dealing with a branched
off timeline. But here is where things get real scary, because nothing,
no matter how horrible the people in the future do to the people in the
past matters to them. And they don't really consider them to be real
people anyway. Now multiply that by the various sociopaths in power in
the future and it's not looking pretty. This episode also answered my
other question about multiple branched timelines. Apparently it is
possible, but it takes a lot more than changing something to force a new
branch. Or at least to access one.

Willow (Disney+) 1988 fantasy adventure starring Warrick Davis as a
would be wizard who goes on a quest to save a kingdom with some help
from Val Kilmer. This has never been one of my favorite fantasy movies,
but I guess it holds up well enough. I'm curious to see who all they
bring back for the upcoming series.

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story (The Roku Channel) At the start of the
movie they explain that everything in the movie is 100% accurate, which
I found good to know since I learned a *lot* about Weird Al that I
didn't know before watching the movie. For example Al grew up a normal
kid until he fell in with a bad crowd and started to play Polka music
even though everyone knows Polka is the devil's music. Al transitioned
into fame by doing parodies of other artists music until he decided to
create original music with his first big original hit, "Eat It." But
then Michael Jackson came along and did a parody of Al's hit and now
everyone mistakenly thinks Jackson's song came first. Also Al had a
love affair with Madonna, who was only dating him for what he could do
for her career. And apparently Al single-handedly took down a drug
kingpin. Al has lived a very interesting life. I'm glad this movie was
made to finally tell his untold story.

UHF (TMC) 1989 comedy starring "Weird Al" Yankovic as a dreamer who
stumbles into running a last place TV station. Since no one is watching
anyway he proceeds to put any and every oddball character on the
network. To everyone's surprise the Network becomes a hit causing the
rival network affiliate run by Kevin McCarthy to take notice. I watched
this movie once on TV 30+ years ago when it first came out and didn't
like it. But on this viewing I liked it a lot more. I think being in
the proper aspect ratio and having a shiny new print helped, along with
still being in a good mood after watching "Weird: The Al Yankovic Story."

Stay Tuned (blu-ray) 1992 comedy starring John Ritter as a TV addict who
along with his wife (Pam Dawber) get tricked by an agent of the devil
(Jeffrey Jones) and wind up in the Devil's personal TV network. They go
from TV show parody to TV show parody which are all trying to kill them.
I have always enjoyed this movie and it continues to hold up great. I
had been holding off on watching this because supposedly they are going
to do a TV series based on the movie. But the series was announced a
couple of years ago and I haven't seen any sign of movement on it. Plus
I always planned to pair it with UHF so my hand was forced.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZLBPyiyQpQ

V For Vendetta (4K disc) - I remembered, remembered, on the 5th of
November to watch this movie. It stars Hugo Weaving behind a Guy Fawkes
mask as a vigilante who with help from Natalie Portman battle a fascist
British government in a dystopian future. The movie holds up very well.

From the Wikipedia entry for the Andrew Wyeth painting "Christina's
World":

"The woman in the painting is Anna Christina Olson [....] Anna
had a degenerative muscular disorder which meant that she had
not been able to walk since she was about 30 years old.[2] She
was firmly against using a wheelchair, so she would crawl
everywhere. Wyeth was inspired to create the painting when he
saw her crawling across a field while he was watching from a
window in the house."

Cannot catch a break. But Earn was right. Farms are dangerous.

It is. They heal from Lestat's transgressions, but imperfectly. And if
the next episode is the season finale, then there's no way they can
finish the material in the book without another season.

I read the description and thought I don't get it. How does it relate
to the episode. Then I clicked on the link and saw the picture, and now
I get it. It is *very* obscure! Thanks for the link!

That was the penultimate episode. They absolutely did not resolve
everything! Fortunately the show has already been renewed for a second
season.
