In Michigan (and I'm guessing pretty much every other state) rifles are limited
to 5 rounds with shotguns to 2+1.

?!?! Texas certainly does not limit rifle mags to only five rounds.

And my shotgun holds five below the barrel and it's legal even here in
California.

Oops, I should have said "rifles used in the field for hunting area limited
to 5rds and shotguns to 2+1."

For example, they make a 5rd enblock clip for M1 Garand rifles and 5rd
AR mags so they can legally be used for hunting.
