I watched:

GLENN BECK RADIO

THE NEWS AND WHY IT MATTERS

CHAD PRATHER

THE UNXPLAINED:
"Devastating Disasters". Scientific inventions that are meant to avert
catastrophic outcomes from disasters are examined. Their effectiveness
in predicting and somehow mitigating the effects of natural and man-
made disasters through technology are evaluated by experts.

THE PROOF IS OUT THERE: BERMUDA TRIANGLE EDITION:
"Obscure Weather & Optical Illusions". The stupid theme continues. I
have a sneaking suspicion that History Channel is plugging their new
show about the so-called Bermuda Triangle. In any advent, these were
repacked previously-shown segments, a few of which involved the Bermuda
triangle.

What did you watch?

I take that back - I watched World Cup games: the Brazil-Croatia game
was awesome, all the way through!; I didn't see much of the
Argentina-Netherlands game, but what I did see way frustrating.

Hey, thanks for asking!

SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON (1940) on the Disney+
Note to Ian: The wiki on this is all messed up and says it can’t be seen
anywhere etc. etc. etc.
This is an odd duck. It looks and feels so old I was continuously surprised
it even had sound. Their obnoxious youngest son who is too young to talk
never ages even though the narrative seems to take place over several
years. The girl never shows up either. There are however giant poisonous
spiders! In the end some of them stay and some of them go home although I
have no idea to what. I was surprised that most of the stuff I’ve vaguely
remembered from the Disney movie came from this version (and the book).

SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON (1960) on the Disney+
it begins with this title card:

This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or
cultures. These stereotypes
were wrong then and are wrong now. Rather than remove this content, we want
to acknowledge its
harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more
inclusive future together.

Disney is committed to creating stories with inspirational and aspirational
themes that reflect the rich
diversity of the human experience around the globe.

To learn more about how stories have impacted society visit:
www.Disney.com/StoriesMatter

YOUR VIDEO WILL START IN 4

But the thing is… It’s not true. There are a whole bunch of Asian Pirates
played by… Asians. And yeah, they’re evil. They are pirates! Pretty much
the whole Singh brotherhood is after these people. And the Swiss kill them
by the score, in self-defense. I am more concerned by the goofy Disney
music as the Pirates are crushed to death or the fun boink noises as their
skulls are smashed in.

Anyway, this looks great. It avoids the tacked on Prologue of the 1940
version which makes me dislike the family and starts right where it should
with the shipwreck. Beautiful scenery great model work some ships that must
be awfully big. They leave out the youngest non-speaking son from the 1940
version by their youngest son here is one of Disney’s most annoying child
actors, Kevin Corcoran. Now I am against corporal punishment for children
but there are a dozen instances in this film where somebody just needs to
start hitting him in the face and doing it until he complies. They try to
physically restrain him from doing things like running out and getting
eaten by a tiger or lighting the fuses of coconut bombs and tossing them
but he just screams and breaks away and keeps doing it!

Speaking of coconut bombs there is some really serious Gilligans island
influence in this movie.

They do include the girl this time (the lovely but doomed Janet Munro). A
different set of people leave the island in this film. And now that they
have found the island there will be a colony soon anyway.

All sorts of animals live there that never shared the same space anywhere
on the planet. They actually try to explain this by having the book reading
middle brother come up with a theory that this is the last bit of a land
bridge that connected Asia and Africa!

The 1940 family was traveling from London to Australia. The 1960 family was
traveling from Switzerland to New Guinea. I think it’s just as well they
don’t show us the routes they were taking…

All I've been watching for a while is 'China Beach' on DVD. I'm about
the middle of season 3 at the moment. And yes, Dana Delany was yummy,
Marg Helgenberger had nice legs and Rikki Lake was FAT!

Doesn't almost every movie and show have "mistreatment of people" in it?
There would be no drama otherwise.

Why does SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON have a warning blurb but DIE HARD or
AVENGERS or STAR WARS does not?

The Ewok abuse in "Return of the Jedi" is especially intolerable!!
(Not to mention the droid torture in all 3 films!!)

The "land bridge that connected Asia and Africa" still exists; we call
it the Middle East these days. Israel is entirely in Asia but Egypt,
just next door, is partly (the Sinai part) in Asia and mostly in Africa.
The Suez Canal marks the boundary between Asia and Africa according to
most geographers.

Then there's the torture inflicted on the audience by the mere existence
