After an arduous workout, I watched:

GLENN BECK RADIO

THE NEWS AND WHY IT MATTERS

GHOST ADVENTURES:
Several eps on Travel Channel, who was playing this all day. I found myself
nodding in and out because watching Dildo Baggins and friends play
"Ghostbusters" isn't compelling television.

FAMILY GUY:
Several eps on FXX:
"Stewie Loves Lois".
"Mother Tucker".
"Hell Comes To Quahog".
"Saving Private Brian".

What did you watch?

Let's go Brandon!

Hey, thanks for asking!

SURVIVOR
Still not much interesting going on and it’s far too complicated to predict
anything. I sure hope Carla loses.

THE WHITE LOTUS
The HBO Max offered it to me free. What a lousy show! A completely lame rip
off of Faulty Towers (especially the Basil character). The only thing that
kept me going was Alexandra Daddario in a bikini. At the end of episode one
the HBO Max said it would cost more than $20 to watch the rest of the
season. Fuck you HBO Max.

Did you not watch this last week's episode? Lots happened there what
with all maneuvering to get rid of all the HIIs. Was glad to see Jesse
get the HII back and save Owen. Though I have no clue why Cody felt it
necessary to give the idol back to Jesse. I would have preferred to
see Karla go but seeing Cody go was a good second option.

That sounds tempting but given all the other shows I have I don't
think I'll add the WHITE LOTUS to my list even though I get HBO MAX
for free. (Wonder if that will remain the case with the upcoming
Discover- merger)

I'm still debating watching both seasons of this over break. Haven't
made up my mind yet... But both seasons have a lot of actors I like,
so... maybe.

I'm still making my way through the latest episode. I have no idea who
is who.

I watched:

Star Trek: Prodigy (Paramount+) - "Ghost in the Machine" - Every series
has to have a holodeck episode. That's what this was. But it was good.

Law & Order: - "The System" - I think this might be the first time the
guy they put on trial was actually innocent, at least of what they sent
him to prison for. I was hoping the guy would get off with time served.

Law & Order: SVU - "And a Trauma in a Pear Tree" - This episode was a
bit all over the place but the main theme was Rollins exit from the
show. They sure did make a big deal out of it, especially since my
understanding is the actress didn't actually want to leave the show but
was forced out. I should read up on it and confirm if that's the case
or not.

Law & Order: Organized Crime - "Last Christmas" - Just above background
noise.

Bones and All (theatrical) New pretentious art house horror flick
starring Taylor Russell and Timothée Chalamet as two young ghouls in
love. Exactly what they are is never actually identified in the movie,
but I'm going to go with ghoul. The movie kicks off with a teenage
Russell who is the new girl in school. She goes to a sleepover and
promptly tries to eat one of the girls. The other girls manage to pull
her off, but she runs home to her single father who immediately knows
what she has been up to and implements plan get out of Dodged in 3
minutes or less. She wakes up in a new location to find her father
can't take it anymore and has abandoned her. He leaves her some cash
and a tape recording (I should mention this movie is set in the 80s)
filling her in on details of her childhood that she apparently forgot.
And so sets off the movie about a young teenage girl with an
uncontrollable urge to eat human flesh. Along the way she discovers
there are other flesh eaters out there and they can all sense each other
when near. One of the flesh eaters she meets happens to look like
Timothée Chalamet and it's love at first sight.

Have you been watching the entire season? I usually end up spending
the first couple of episodes not knowing who is who and then they
slowly become recognizable. Four or five episodes in there will always
be one or two that I either don't know or get confused with another
player but most become identifiable by then. Only time that doesn't
happen is when they bring back old players for a second/third or even
fourth time.

Not much from TV land. I did watch SAMARITAN, the latest Stallone
picture where he plays an older super-powered individual in a world
full of normals that is just trying to lead a normal life when events
force a return to some old habits.

I also watched a bit of the premiere episode of INHUMANS because some
people I follow on Twitch (the MCU crew, Jesse Cox, JP and that Bronze
Girl) were doing a watch along. Still couldn't stick with it for more
than about ten minutes. I spent the rest of the night watching the
Game Awards last night.

I warned you! Also, her character is horrid, perhaps the most
uninteresting character she has ever played.

Also, the links to Miss Daddario in said bikini were provided at the
time. It was a fine performance.

Actually, the hotel manager is downright vindictive at nearly all times,
far more so than Basil Fawlty, and there is a happy ending for him, if
you care. It's still not something you would enjoy.

Yeah, Arthur's right. This one was different. Still full of massive
STOOPID.

Nolan is the prosecutor on the case of Troy Booker (Chaundre Hall-Broomfield)
who has been languishing at Rikers in pre-trial confinement for a year
and a half. Now, apparently, in real life, yeah, it's hardly unusual
that cases don't get to trial for sometimes two years.

But this is tv. We know the case gets into court after the next commercial
break.

Why was Nolan stalling? There was a confession. In fact, Shaw broke the
suspect and got him to confess. Shaw insistent that he did nothing wrong
and never lied. Of course he gave the "things will go easier for you"
speech. Booker was a suspect in a murder outside what I guess was a bar.
They think he argued with the victim, then shot him. But there was no
murder weapon, just the blood transfer to his clothing. Booker claimed
he saw the man get shot, then tried to help him. Shaw refused to believe
him and did no investigated after obtaining the confession.

The defendant confessed. He had a trial attorney who wasn't lifting a
finger to investiage. Why was Price stalling so long, keeping the case
off the court calendar? Nothing was explained.

Things go wrong for Booker. Now, after he sobered up (he was high when
he made the confession but Shaw claimed he saw no evidence he was high),
he convinced is mother, brother, and a C.O. he was innocent. He tried to
help the victim.

He escaped custody at the courthouse. The C.O. transporting him didn't
follow procedure because he couldn't pull into the prisoner receiving
dock. In the struggle, the C.O. pulled his weapon, they fought for it,
and the C.O. ended up shooting himself. But he took the C.O.'s gun, then
took a woman hostage as well as other customers in a book store. But
Cosgrove, wearing no heavy-duty flak jacket, leads the breeching team
and captures Booker.

Booker gets a new attorney. She's never tried a murder before, but has
absolutely no trouble obtaining exculpatory evidence. There's no
evidentiary hearing; the judge denies it. I have no idea why. After 18
months, it might have been nice. Instead, she hands evidence from video
surveillance over the Price. Shaw could have easily found this evidence
himself, if only he'd looked.

Price drops the murder case.

Price had the original murder, the assault on the C.O., and kidnapping
consolidated. But the C.O. dies of sepsis and we hear nearly nothing at
trial about the kidnapping.

The defense attorney is all sorts of awful. She doesn't challenge any of
Price's evidence, just stipulates to the escape, the struggle with the
C.O., and the kidnapping. Her stipulation is all we hear of the
kidnapping at trial.

Worse, still, there's an actual argument to be made that the C.O.'s
death from sepsis was NOT felony murder but failure of care. Maybe it
was an opporunitistic infection at the hospital. Happens all the time.
There was actual evidence she could have put up.

Price might have overcharged. He could have charged the escape, assault
and battery with a deadly weapon, a gun possessio charge, and a few
others. Just Murder Two.

I'm a little confused. I thought in the New York criminal code, it's
Murder One if the victim is law enforcement or a fireman. Surely a C.O.
is treated like a cop.

The defense calls the defendant to the stand, who then claims he was
afraid for his life because a white inmate had threatened to kill him if
he returned to Rykers. She fails to put up any evidence to support this
statement, and then, it kicks her in the ass because Det. Penelopie Yee
goes through massive amounts of jail video footage in seconds and cannot
find the interaction between the two inmates. The warden is put on the
stand to get this lack of evidence entered onto the record.

Booker gets convicted.

Price and Shaw spend much of the episode wallowing in self pity.

I so wanted to love THE INHUMANS TV show having loved the comics since it
first came out but it wasn’t possible. They did a pretty good job in that
first episode with all the characters that you’d think would be too
expensive to do and then move them off screen for the rest of the series

Good catch! So did they think the gun just walked off by itself? And

I did notice at one point Price says, "objection" without ever stating
what it is he is objecting too, and the judge just said sustained
without any explanation either. I know on TV that happens all the time,
but I was just shaking my head thinking that's not how it works. Of
course the defense attorney just let it slide.

Danny Horn (from the Superheroes Every Day blog) watched the whoe thing and
talked about it on a podcast.
It sounds very very bad.

It's sort of the same with me. It really depends on the season.
Sometimes there will be a standout tribe that I root for or against.
Sometimes there will be a standout player(s) that I root for or against.
It takes time to get to know them. But sometimes like this season, no
one stands out.

Another issue, and correct me if I'm wrong, but as I recall in seasons
past they would edit the show in such a way that you knew who was going
to get voted out. And even if they didn't get voted out you at least
knew who they were talking about and why they did or didn't get voted
out/blind sided. Now they edit the show in such a way that it's a
surprise. That's not to say they aren't saying the name of someone but
there's usually little relationship between the name and who actually
gets voted out.

Also increasing the number of players and going from 2 to 3 tribes makes
it harder for me to follow since it's no longer a binary choice. And on
top of that they constantly swap tribes. I gave up even trying to keep
track of which tribe is which. So unless someone stands out I usually
don't know who is who. This season, no one has really stood out to me.

To put it another way, if they did Survivor All Stars made up of people
from the first 10 seasons, I'd probably know who they were. If they did
it made up of people from the last 10 seasons, I probably wouldn't know
who any of them were. Or maybe one or two if they won their season.

Four or five episodes in there will always

I have a question but it would be considered a spoiler for something
different... I can't say what the something different is because that
in and of itself is the spoiler...

Yeah, someone like Russell Hantz would stand out in any season as he
painted himself as the villain from the beginning. This season the
only one that stood out was Noelle because of her missing leg.

That's true. Though they've varied it at times with sometimes the
editing pointing to someone as going home that was actually safe.
Lately you can kind of guess who is going home by looking at how much
screen time they are getting. If you have a player that hasn't been
getting a lot of screen time suddenly get a lot of time then they are
likely to go.

What I hated was a few seasons where people ended up getting voted out
without any apparent reason. Yes, every player has to go eventually
but I always want to be able to understand why a player was voted out
from a strategic understanding. The editors have been about this the
last few years.

I get that. There are usually a few people from each season that will
stand out for me by the end that I'll still remember but many just
fade into the distance over the years. There's just too many people to
keep them all straight without some regular reminder. Then there's
like that lady from years ago that kept singing and was the first
voted out. Not the best reason to stand out but I still remember her.
LOL.

Of course I've seen it and yes I noticed Black Bolt. Sadly he didn't
have much to do in that movie.. Not even a single line to say. ;)

The opposite of the comic book where they were trapped on earth and at the

Dvd boxset in 2 years.

I double barreled Vince Vaughn, Curb Your Enthusiasm and True Detective.

That should have been enough to get the confession tossed right there.
Doesn't matter if Shaw knew he was intoxicated. The fact that he was
intoxicated renders the confession useless.

Many times over my career, I'd arrive at a hospital or a psych ward to
interview a skell and find out the docs gave him pain meds or psych
meds. So I had to wait until the meds wore off to question him otherwise
anything he said would be admissible.

Of course the SWAT Team is going to allow a plainclothes detective who's
never trained them to take the lead. Of course.

The only thing I was surprised about in that scene is that Danny Reagan
didn't show up to lead the team.

We also hear nothing about finding the real killer of the original
victim. Now that everyone knows it's not Booker, they seem strangely
uninterested in finding the actual shooter.

Given that she basically stipulated to the prosecution's entire case, I
have no idea why Price didn't just move for a directed verdict at that
point and spare the jury the trouble.

> Price and Shaw spend much of the episode wallowing in self pity.

And it was pretty much justified since both of them utterly failed to do
their jobs properly.

Also, someone needs to tell Shaw to stop buying suits that are size or
two too small for him.

No, it's not how it works. Every objection has to have a foundation and
the judge has to rule on it based on that foundation (not just say
"sustained" or "overruled") to preserve the objection for appeal.

Maybe he's put on weight since Necessary Roughness.
