Missouri Republicans pass a rule requiring women to cover their arms in
the state House chamber

I wonder if these were the same assholes who used to whine about "Sharia

With all due respect dress codes long predated the Taliban. I don't
agree with this particular one (which I believe ONLY refers to the
state house and/or senate) but it's their right to make it.

I've never heard of a Taliban dress code that didn't apply to ALL
women outside their homes anywhere. There is a difference.

There is a great deal of "community pressure" on the Halton school board
right now to adopt a dress code to rein in the trans-sexual shop teacher
with the enormous fake breasts whose presence has caused an enormous
controversy in Oakville, Ontario. I suppose that makes Oakville a
community of Taliban as well by Trotsky's delusional reasoning.

Reportedly, that teacher's conduct was an act of protest, raising issues
of 'free speech' rather more important than ones of 'decorum'.

You mean as opposed to the home of the largest Ford plant in Canada?
(The one where my brother in law works?)

It's well to do but no question has a lot more besides Ford.

(My inlaws are mostly from next door Burlington but have spread out
throughout that region)

Well once again, in a metal shop class I would expect issues of staff
and student safety would far outweigh either free speech or decorum.

At least it's been that way in any shop class I or my kids have been
in.

And an outfit like that definitely has prospects for getting caught in
machinery.

If they can impose a dress code on the kids, why would a dress code for
the staff be kosher?

All the female legislators should start wearing burkas, that'd piss them
off good.

If they tried to ban burkas the women could charge religious
discrimination, which the right is wont to do all the time.

It looks like you're going for your logic to be horseshit rather than
impeccable.

For all we know burkas are the height of hillbilly fashion down in Missouri.

I predict we'll see them parade into the chamber in those red-cloaked
HANDMAID'S TALE outfits. That seems to be the go-to prog cosplay these
days.

You might be right. They'd be much better off with "Republicans suck

I'm not sure if there *is* a dress code for the students but the school
board has REALLY dragged its feet on the whole idea for teachers
claiming that it would violate their human rights, especially their
right to express themselves freely. The matter got referred to the
teachers' college system by the (provincial) Minister of Education,
apparently in the hope that they would act but they just punted it back
board saying it was within the purview of the board to decide.

In the meantime, there have umpteen bomb threats to the school and death
threats against the individuals seen as tolerating this fiasco. The
school has been evacuated several times due to the bomb threats and some
of the parents are understandably anxious about it, especially when the
media said there were strong similarities between the style of the
threats and a certain anti-trans activist in the US (Boston?).

That idiot Trotsky apparently sees a dress code in a state legislature
as being the same thing as the Taliban mandating hijabs for all the
women in Afghanistan. I'm just mocking that parallel.

Besides the penalty for non-compliance, what's an important difference?

I can't imagine the kids can show up wearing anything they want. Girls

I betcha the school has all sorts of rules about what the kids can and
cannot wear.

And given that, why would it be out of bounds to require the same of
teachers?

One is a voluntary association that one can quit at any time.

The other-- there's no escape for anyone who doesn't want to comply.

I'll leave you to work out which is which.

I'll leave you work out how that 'difference' reduces to 'the penalty
for non-compliance'.

The penalty for non-compliance for one is a fine or censure. The penalty
for the other is being beaten to death.

The difference doesn't reduce.

Whether that difference is minuscule or spans worlds, what I asked for
was a difference *besides* the penalty for non-compliance.

I think there probably *is* a dress code for the students but media
reports say the board was dragging its heels on limiting what teachers
could wear because it might violate their human rights. Assuming that
the kids are also human, wouldn't that same argument apply to them? If
there is no teacher dress code, perhaps there (already) isn't a student
one? I really don't know but if they are going to be consistent, they
are either both going to have a dress code or both be free to wear what
they like, regardless of how provocative.

Indeed.

You said that, for non-compliance, there's either slight penalty or
substantial penalty. That's a difference in penalty for non-compliance.
