Mostly sports programming:

Australian Open - It seems like a bunch of minor Americans are
advancing after early round upsets. But Dujokovic advanced fairly
easily.

NFL Playoffs - It was closer than it should have been but Kansas City
dispatched Jacksonville. I did not watch the other game, but I gather
Phili took care of the Giants.

The Last Dance (Netflix) - First three episodes of the doc about
Michael Jordan's last season with the Chicago Bulls and their attempt
to complete a second "threepete". Luckily the doc does flaskback and
show Jordan first joining the Bulls and the first few seasons when the
Bulls transitioned from being losers to being playoff contenders after
Jordan joined. It also does profile some of the other players like
Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman.
I don't usually care for documentaries, but this one is pretty interesting.

A number of us discussed this extensively when it first aired in spring 2020.
ESPN produced this in house for its own network for airing during a lull
in sports programming, probably for first quarter 2021. Thanks to the
economic shutdow, that lull in programming began much much earlier than
anticipated and we got to see it shortly after editing was completed.

That's a dirty trick by Netflix, making people think they are about to
watch a "Step Up" type of movie then it turns out to be about basketball.

I watched:

Private Benjamin (Showtime) 1980 comedy about a spoiled rich girl
(Goldie Hawn) who joins the army to get away from it all after her
husband dies on their wedding night. You can tell it's an old movie
because it took 20 minutes before she showed up at basic training. But
once she got there the movie picked up a lot and was funny. "Do You
Mind if I check into my room first?"

Stripes (4K disc) 1981 rip off of "Private Benjamin" starring Bill
Murray as a slacker who along with his friend Egon join the army. This
movie felt a lot like a proto Ghostbusters movie. Murray's character
might as well have been named Peter Venkman. This was the extended
version. I'm not sure if I've ever watched the movie all the way
through before now, but if I had it definitely wasn't the extended version!

Quick Change (blu-ray) 1990 comedy starring Bill Murray as a bank robber
who dresses up as clown to rob a bank. Along with his accomplices
(Geena Davis and Randy Quaid) they make it out of the bank unnoticed by
the police, but then have a lot of trouble making their way to the
airport with the money. This was a favorite of mine when I was a kid,
but, I haven't watched this since around the time of the original
release. It holds up well enough.

Groundhog Day (4K disc) 1993 comedy starring Bill Murray as a weather
man who gets stuck in a time loop on Groundhog Day. It's been a long
time since I last watched this. I guess it holds up well enough.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (blu-ray) 2004 comedy written and
directed by Wes Anderson, starring Bill Murray as an oceanographer who
goes on wacky adventures with his crew. After his best friend is eaten
by a shark he vows to hunt down the shark for revenge. I don't think
I've watched this since it was in the theater. With a movie like this
either you like Wes Anderson or you don't.

I was going to watch with the commentary track on, but for reasons I
can't begin to understand they appear to have recorded the commentary in
the middle of a busy restaurant. Or perhaps it was a public screening
of the movie. But I could *clearly* hear lots of overlapping
conversations as well as the clattering of dishes being served. It was
so obnoxiously loud and distracting that I had to turn off the
commentary. I occasionally sampled the commentary throughout the movie,
and the background noise was always there.

I loved this movie. Both Goldie Hawn and Eileen Brennan were terrific.
But it got weak once it focused on her romance with Henri in the second
half and it was no longer a service comedy.

I've mentioned before: Eileen Brennan should have had a huge career
boost thanks to the success of this movie, but she was traumatically
injured in a vehicle collision shortly after production wrapped and she
was laid up for some time. She and Hal Williams played their characters
again in the tv series.

The plot falls apart at times, but who cares. It's just so damn funny.

It's was a very good movie; I agree. I considered it to be more drama
than comedy and Murray showed wider range as an actor.

Are you sure you're not still watching the movie from the first time?

I've still never watched this all the way through.

I loved the scene with the men of the airborne as the camera pans over
each man's face then over Goldie's head then has to pan back and down.

I agree it does start to fall apart towards the end then just abruptly
stops.

I had no idea Eileen was in an accident. I remember her and Williams
from the show, although I don't really remember the show itself, just
that I watched it and they were on it. I mostly know Eileen from Clue.
I used to watch that movie all the time when I was a kid.
