Every time I read about California and water management, I think more
and more fondly of Lex Luthor's plot to induce an earthquake in the San
Andreas fault to create new oceanfront property (than he owns) from
Superman I.

Just a few weeks ago, I heard a report that California reservoirs dump
water each winter DESPITE THE DROUGHT to prepare to receive spring water
runoff. It turns out that's not always necessary because we don't always
get overwhelming runoff in the spring. When do the need to prepare for
runoff? It's actually predictable. They are going to read... localized
weather forecasts to make the decision about whether they'd benefit from
dumping water. If not, they'll keep it in the reservoir.

Weather forecasting has been around for well over a century.

Here's another headline:

With a $22.5 billion deficit, water management is a luxury. 'Cuz, you
know, the longer you put off making a difficult choice, the cheaper it
gets. Right?

Congratulations to California. But I'm sure my state will catch up next
week.

But somehow we still have money to pay for college scholarships for
illegal aliens. And billions to flush down the toilet on high-speed rail
and building half-million dollar apartments for blasted out meth addicts
and schizophrenics.

As low as those reservoirs are, it'd take 2 or 3 spring runnoffs to
overfill them. Idiots.

I live next to a largish lake which empties into a river which later
joins the Columbia. About 20 miles downstream of the lake outlet there's
a dam. They do let more water through the dam in the fall to lower the
lake level so it has room to fill during the winter and spring without
flooding everything. But that's not true in CA as we've had more average
or slightly less than average precipitation than there.

I would hope that they know what they are doing and are only letting
water go through when they need to. Possibly because if they wanted
till the spring waters arrived on a more typical spring they couldn't
keep up unless they started releasing water early. Certainly I
wouldn't expect those reservoirs that are massively below normal
levels (think Lake Mead as an example) to be releasing water early.

Just ask yourself what you would do in any situation, or what's the
common sense thing to do, and then expect the California government to
do the opposite.

Yur in Mississippi?

"What’s happening in West Bolivar is common across Mississippi. Researchers trying to understand the teacher shortage could find sufficient data for only 37 states, and among those, Mississippi’s was the worst.. For every 10,000 students there, 69 teacher positions are unfilled or filled by someone without traditional credentials. That’s 159 times the ratio in Missouri, according to their working paper, published by Brown University’s Annenberg Institute for School Reform.

It’s near the end of the day at West Bolivar High School, and Jordan Mosley is stuck. The 15-year-old sophomore stares at her laptop and restarts the video.
Her teacher that day is a stranger — a nameless long-haired man on the screen. He explains two-column geometry proofs and how students could use the software to complete them. “Prove if the length of AB is equal to the length of EF,” the man says.
But there is no one to ask for help in this classroom, where students stare sleepily at laptops amid the din of a portable air conditioner. There is only a teacher’s assistant who can print out additional worksheets if they run into trouble. So Jordan, a top student, decides to wait until she can see Ms. Butler, the high school’s popular math teacher — and its only one.

The virtual session is not a concession to pandemic learning or a stopgap for a teacher who is sick. It is how sophomores are expected to learn geometry this year after the district could not find a teacher. In the Mississippi Delta, where schools have historically been shortchanged, teaching candidates — especially those who know math — are hard to come by.."

SACRAMENTO, California - Illegal immigrants can now apply for
state-funded scholarships and aid at state universities in California
after Gov. Jerry Brown announced Saturday that he has signed the second
half of a legislative package targeting such students.

Not only does an illegal get to take one of the finite seats at, say,
UCLA-- depriving an American citizen of that seat, at a university that
citizen is paying taxes to support, but that citizen also gets to go to
work to pay even more taxes to help put that illegal through college
free of charge.

And here's where "trotsky" claims your source is a rightwing proppganda
site because he always does this after asking for proof whenever he looses
a debate.

We need to take a deeper dive into this. I claim this stream of
horseshit came straight from an Oath Keeper email blast. From the article:

> Under current law, illegal immigrant students who have graduated from a California high school and can prove they're on the path to legalize their immigration status

You must have omitted that part for some reason, repeating the word
"illegal" ad nauseum instead of saying anything about the ability to
legalize their statuses. Now, even though you fucked up my previous
multiple choice question, let's try another just for shits and giggles.

Did you leave out this pertinent info because

A) you're too fucking stupid to get anything right
B) It was in an Oath Keeper email blast and you just parroted their
horseshit
C) you didn't read the article because you're too fucking stupid to
learn the facts before you opened your big fat fucking cyber mouth
D) You were too fucking stupid to realize I always get to the facts and
you're fucked as a result
E) All of the above.

Which is it?
