The trillion dollar coin is a 5-cent band-aid to the spending problem. It will raise the debt limit, but won't curb spending, and will probably make spending accelerate when the gub-mint turns on the printing press. And the "interest payment" on the debt will accelerate in size also.

Any metal would work theoretically, I personally like the idea of using base pot-metal, but money magic requires an illusion of real worth, so platinum has a nice sleight of hand sound to it.

I have a collection of Stephen King first editions and limited editions,
several of which are now routinely selling for multiple thousands of
dollars at rare book auctions.

Sometimes collectibles can work out for you. Just gotta know what to
collect.
