BTW the actress who played Mulder's mom, Rebecca Toolan, was fine in

Toolan also works in Hallmark movies and has played Mrs. Santa Claus in
them a couple of times. She looks the part.

Gillian Anderson had a relatively small but significant role in "The Pale Blue Eye", the fictional account of Edgar Allan Poe at West Point Academy.

I did not recognize her until I *had* to look up the film credits, because her acting made her literally pop off the screen in my opinion. Of course with makeup and costume and she has aged since the X-Files, she did not look the same, but wow, the couple scenes she was in were quite dramatic.

Her first appearance I kept thinking, "Who is this woman?"

Overall "The Pale Blue Eye" I would give a tepid recommendation but might be worth your time.

Oh! I almost forgot Toby Jones from the UK 'Detectorist' TV series made an appearance as the West Point Academy doctor. I recognized him instantly from recently watching the complete 'Detectorist' series,.That series I highly recommend. Loved it, every minute of it, Loved it!
