Punishing family members of people who speak or act out in some way is
straight out of the Communist playbook. As the article points out - and
activists like Yeonmi Park have attested - the North Koreans routinely
punish RELATIVES of those who have offended the state. The Soviet Union
did that in Stalin's day too. There was actually a provision of the
Soviet Criminal Code that said being a family member of someone who got
into trouble with the state was a crime in and of itself. There were
many instances were a spouse, child, parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle or
in-law was sent to the Gulag - or an orphanage if young enough - for the
"crimes" of a family member. (And remember, most of these "crimes" were
only proven by confessions obtained by relentless torture).

Fortunately, in this case, the outcry that resulted from this banning of
Southern's parents got AirBnB to reverse itself but who would want to
count on this to ensure that the right thing got done? A conservative
with less of a following might not be able to get that kind of decision
overturned.

Is this what America has come to? I'm started to see why Yeonmi Park has
expressed concerns that America is becoming more and more like her
homeland of North Korea!

I'm shocked here that mime gets the criticism of the Jooz so wrong here.
It's not objecting to anti-Israel speech. It's that the Jooz lobbied for
thwarting anti-Israel speech knowing that it was unconstitutional.

A real Jewish lawyer defended Brandenburg. A real Jewish lawyer defended
Frank Collin. In Israel, Palestinians are able to hire real Jewish
lawyers to defend their liberty against military excess.

The law itself isn't hypocritical. It's the Jews themselves who lobbied

American rights are being attacked internally by a foreign government. This is not hyperbole. This is an act of war with complicity from elected officials. These are acts of treason, punishable if convicted, by the death penalty.

That is how serious this is. If the courts do not correct these blatant infringements of constitution rights, there remains a final avenue for resolution.

Court of Appeals < Supreme Court

NAACP v. Claiborne Hardware, 458 U.S. 886 (1982), the Supreme Court
ruled that although states have broad power to regulate economic
activities, they cannot prohibit peaceful advocacy of or participation
in a politically motivated boycott.

If bans on economic boycotts could be enforced, then every time some
state passes a law that pisses off Hollywood-- no boys in girls
bathrooms, no teaching CRT to schoolkids, no drag shows for
kindergartners, no abortion without restriction, etc.-- and Hollywood
says they'll no longer patronize that state by filming there, those
studios and producers could be criminally charged.

Hell, California itself is boycotting about 30 states right now,
refusing to do business with them and prohibiting state-funded travel to
them because they have the gall to pass their own laws without asking
for the California government's approval first. (Except Emperor Newsom.
The boycotts don't apply to him. He gets to spend Christmas in Montana
because laws are for everyone else but him.)

Texas could just pass an anti-boycott law making it a crime to boycott
Texas and its businesses and then issue an arrest warrant for Newsom.

Of course none of that shit would actually happen because boycotts are
protected 1st Amendment activity.

I've got to say I'm disappointed in that appellate court ruling, that it
prohibits economic decisions that don't implicate the First Amendment. I
