Anna Karenina (1878-1880) was Leo Tolstoy's famous novel and it's new
style transitioning to a modern style was influential on novels that
followed. It's been adapted in numerous movies in any number of
countries, plays, and radio scripts. The famous American version
starring Garbo was 1935, and the British version starring Vivien Leigh
and Ralph Richardson (1948). There are multiple operas.

There are several ballets with different music as well.

Here in Chicago, the Joffrey Ballet, which made a deal to be a tenant
at the Civic Opera House (where the Lyric Opera performs), is staging
the 2019 ballet choreographed by Yuri Possokhov.

It's insensitive. There are pro-Ukrainian protestors. This is just like
the crap we've seen in which Russian pianists and other musicians have
been harassed.

One of the protestors is an art student at School of the Art Institute.
Gotta love one artist demanding censorship of another artist.

Apparently an orchestra playing anything by Tschaikowsky is insensitive
and worthy of protest now, too.
