- Jerry Jarrett, the long time Memphis promoter, died Monday sof esophegal cancer. He was 80. Jarrett's promotion for much of the 1970s was locked into a wrestling war with another promotion run by Nick Gulas and Roy Welch. Eventually, Jarrett won. He put Jerry "The King" Lawler at the top of the card, launched the feud between Lawler and Andy Kaufman, made Memphis Wrestling on WMC into a ratings phenomenon on Saturday nights and sold out the Mid-South Coliseum on Monday nights. However, like most territories, it couldn't withstand the WWF's rise to national prominence and closed down in 1997 as the last territory in existence. He would work as a consultant for both the WWF and World Championship Wrestling, until he formed TNA with his son, Jeff, in 2002.
- AEW Dynamite Championship FIght Night from last weinek started with an AEW World Championship Eliminator Match as MJF faced Konosuke Takeshita.The AEW World champion won by submission with an armbar. In Women's Eliminator action, Jamie Hayter defeated the Bunny after Hayterade. Ricky Starks took on the Jericho Appreciation Society in a Gauntlet Match; Daniel Garcia won after a masked man helped him win. He unmasked to be...Chris Jericho. Bryan Danielson then faced Rush; MJF did everything to prevent the "American Dragon" to enter the ring. Danielson won and now has a 60-minute Iron Man match for the AEW World title at Revolution. In a match for the AEW Trios title, the Elite defeated Top Flight and AR Fox when Kenny Omega rolled up Fox. The main event saw the Acclaimed defend the AEW World tag team titles against Colton and Austin Gunn. A heel turn by Billy Gunn was teased, but in the end his sons won the titles in what had to be a baffling booking decision. In the ratings, Dynamite drew 899,000 viewers.
