Tightrope

So delicate this life walk,
sliding one foot then another
along a high wire act
where one gust can force
a tumble from sanity.

Perhaps a purple pill to ease
the free float acrobatics
or just a spine wrenching twist
as if dogs landing on all fours.

A short trip back to reality,
once again tenuous
at best, until the prescription
is re-filled.
