I watched:

BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD:
"Boxed In/Beekeepers". Beavis and Butt-Head get trapped in a cardboard
box while attempting to hide out in the school. Beavis and Butt-Head
try to harvest honey from a wasps' nest. These new eps are OK

FANTASY ISLAND:
"Mary Ann and Miss Sophisticate/Jungle Man". Unemployed actor David
Farley gets to reprise his signature role of Jungle Man. Acclaimed
ventriloquist Mary Ann Carlin is afraid that her marionette Valerie has
taken over some of her personality traits. While I liked the set up, I
was dissapointed in the execution and resolution. I am not sure why
Annette was so distressed at feeling her husband making love to her
former dummy and like she was in pain and I am nort sure how Jungle Man
actually solved his wife (hey, it's that polynesian dragon queen
bitch!) selling the jungle to developers by having his tribesmen
friends threaten to shoot poison darts at everyone at the signing
ceremony so they gave up and went home?

FANTASY ISLAND:
"Eagleman/Children of Mentu". Widowed businessman Morris Binstock
wants to become his estranged son Barney's favorite comic-book
superhero Eagle Man to get the boy's attention. Journalism student
Rochelle Mackenzie seeks out the story that will make her career.
I bailed as soon as I realized Gilligan was playing the widowed father.

I also watched several clips and Laibach muscivids on YouTube.

I was going to catch up on NIGHT COURT but the only ep available was
this week's. DAMN YOU JIMMY'S JOHN'S!

What did you watch?

Let's go Brandon!

Funny you mention that...

> What did you watch?

I took yesterday as a full "rain day", and got nothing (i.e. no work)
done, and just sat around and watched stuff!

Into the Blue [1!] (Showtime Extreme, I think) - There was nothing else
on yesterday morning (even the stuff on LMN I didn't want to watch!),
so I found this and just watched it.
It sure did look damn pretty on my new TeeVee!! It amuzes me how
Jessica Alba just dresses like a total beach tramp in this! Though I
really didn't need to see Ashley Scott at this level of detail! ;p
Her character kind of disappears from the end of this flick - I guess
her character dies, but I must have missed them confirming that -
though I guess the massive chunk of her leg missing that they showed
was the hint!... Co-starring early Josh Brolin playing a dastardly
villain!! (On point!)

Into the Blue 2: The Reef (Freevee) - I actually watched this later in
the day, but I'll mention it here. This still looked pretty good on the
new TeeVee, though definitely not as good as the original film.
Is it my imagination, or does this direct-to-video sequel actually
have the better story?! The original is mostly a straight treasure
hunt, but with convoluted subplots involving drug dealers (lame!) - the
sequel actually involves higher stakes with EVOL!!1! terrorists and
such. And sports Marsha Thomason at her most EVOL!!1! (David Anders
plays his usual brand of EVOL!)
I forgot that Mircea Monroe gets as nekkid in this as much as she
does... (I also forgot what happens to her character.)
Laura Vandervoort is a virtual superhero in this - she makes Jessica
Alba look like chopped liver!
The ending was disappointing in that Thomason's character waltzes
off into the mists - they may have been setting up a sequel (or spinoff
film?) with her, but I guess it never happened... (It's never too late!)
I dunno where the first one was filmed, but this flick was filmed in
Hawai-EYE-EYE (Oahu, to be specific).

GH - Tues' & Wed's ep's. Really not much here worth mentioning. Willow
is actually a decent human being to Nina for 5 seconds. Austin's cousin
lets Ava know that he knows. It looks like they are writing Cameron
out. Esme successfully takes the baby with her to prison! and Spencer
has a fit. Anna, Robert and Valentin work on the deputy mayor to get
her to work against Victor Cassadine (this only ends with her deader
than dead!)

C.B. Strike (HBO Max) - "Troubled Blood: Part 3". Mostly good followup
to Parts 1-2. In one part, they rub our noses in the fact that Strike
is still a personal mess when he gets drunk and makes a scene at
Robin's (FTR, Robin's sister and her beau are total pills, and Strike
actually should have punched their lights out).
But they sort of pick up a new client - the father of one of the
likely victims of the serial killer from the 1970s - and they actually
make progress on that. Ultimately, Strike visits the serial killer in
prison, and likely gets the location of the father's murdered daughter.
They also think they make progress on their original missing persons
case.
Just one more ep to go, which I should get to today...

A Lifeguard's Obsession (Lifetime) - This was filmed... weirdly. And by
"weird", I mean "awkward" - it wasn't terribly filmed, but it wasn't
well filmed either... Like, some shots on the beach looked like
greenscreen - so, either, they were too cheap to pop for more shoots on
the beach; or, it was so badly filmed that they made a beach shot look
like greenscreen!
I can't tell if this was an Asylum pic (it has no IMDb listing) - I
think it probably wasn't (it wasn't as "over the top" as their Lifetime
flicks usually are) - but it felt like this was filmed like an Asylum
pic.
Anyway, this was pretty standard fare - crazed, psycho lifeguard
saves "surfer" with a knee injury (Amanda Jones, recently seen in "My
Diary of Lies"), and soon enough starts romancing her and eliminating
the people in her life, including her jerk of a fellow-lifeguard
boyfriend.
It was... OK, I guess. I've definitely seen worse in this genre. But
I've also seen plenty of Lifetime flicks more entertaining than this
one!

Castaways (Tubi) - Weird Tubi original. It looks like it was made for a
$1.98. It's from "Cartel Pictures" and stars Asylum fave Paige McGarvin
and Sofia Masson who has been a recent Lifetime player.
The first weird thing is that Nicholle Tom is credited in the film's
front credits - but she does not appear in the film at all, and is not
listed in the film's end credits. As best I can tell, she was probably
supposed to play McGarvin's mother, but they must have subbed Kate
Watson in at the last minute.
Second, it's obstensibly "post-apocalyptic", but it's not really,
and they totally didn't even need to introduce that element into the
story they were trying to tell anyway, as it's just a distractor and
they don't really follow up on it!
Anyway, the movie is almost entirely McGarvin and Masson, who soon
enough get stranded on a desert island (no, *really*!), and it quickly
devolves into a lesbian (romance) fest (sans naked nudity). I was
certainly looking for something grittier than that when I signed up for
this!!

Blue Bloods - setting Jamie up to be his older brother with maybe the same fate. Eddie now gets to ignore
her patrol duties and play detective. Danny shows a hard side. The cartel can operate all over NY with impunity
but cant protect the top guys family back in Mexico? And Erin turns the table on a sports agent. All story lines
very brief with no development, this episode played like a trailer not a complete episode.

Oh, this got totally lost in the followup - yesterday I also watched:

Night Court (Peacock) - "Dan v. Dating" (ep. #1.4). Dan is being
sexually harassed by every woman over 40, apparently. Wendy Malick
shows up as a prospective "love" ("sex"?!) interest for Dan. I was
disappointed with the denouement of this storyline - in the end, there
was no "there" there... In the slightly better 'B story', Gurgs gets
Olivia an office room in the courthouse because she wants to be "office
buddies" with Olivia - it ends up working out.

The name sounds familiar but had to look her up to attach a face to the
name.

I'm several episodes behind. I really need to catch up on this show.

I remember her from Dream On, what, three decades ago? That was a really
good show.

She was also on Just Shoot Me, but I wasn't a regular viewer of that.

Don't remember her being on that show but then I really only recall
the lead actor from that show.

I do remember her from that one as I used to watch it regularly.

I just fixed the cast order for it, and fixing the credited character
names is pending.

But like I said in another post, I don't know how to add *new* movie/TV
entries, and trying to get duplicated entries merged/removed is petty
much a hopeless cause. (And, right now, there are two entries on IMDb
for "Girl in a Closet", but I have no hope of getting rid of the
"wrong" duplicate entry, so somebody else will have to fix that!!)

I had all but given up when they put in the rule that you can only make
actresses older, not younger, despite the fact that I was trying to keep
accurate a friends page and I’ve got our grade school class pictures, and
high school yearbooks. That was the end for me.

The greatest single FANTASY ISLAND episode of them all, and the one most
deserving of a Jill Wagner European release.

That’s an ongoing problem with FANTASY ISLAND resolutions. I mean he’s
moved a building or a town to his island. Do the changes played out in a
fantasy actually affect the real world?

>
> What did you watch?

Hey, thanks for asking!

A couple more random episodes of Burkes Law. Amos Burke Secret Agent is
almost upon us!

The Ark, Snark elsewhere.

SPHINX (1980) on TCM.
The movie itself says 1980 although the various reference sources say 1981.

I saw this for the first and last time with the ex in 1981. I remembered it
as being a lot better than it was.

The super cute Lesley Anne Down gets involved in smuggling Egyptian
artifacts. There are some flashbacks to various ancient times, and
expeditions, but they don’t actually drive the plot in any way. There’s a
funny scene where when brought to the great pyramid for the first time, she
says how huge they are, and both her tour guides, unseen by her, mouth her
words exactly. They stole that for Doctor Who when the impossibly cute
Clara says the tardis is smaller on the outside!

The problem is almost none of it makes sense. It’s hard to tell if it’s the
writer or the directors fault. But for instance, the bad guys have Lesley
Anne Down and John ryes Davies (a year before he did Raiders of the lost
Ark) in a hotel room a few stories up. The main bad guy is “interrogating“
the girl in another room when they hear shots from the outer room. He goes
to the outer room and there’s nobody there. He goes to the window and looks
down, and his thug is on the ground With the lifeless body of Salah. “He
tried to escape!“
OK, I see how Salah got down there. He fell. But how did the bad guy get
down there?

When they’re torturing Salah for information, they keep cutting to reaction
shots from Down and it’s just laughable. The bad guy slaps Salah and Down
reacts like they just chainsawed off an arm. They pull a bandage off of his
face! And Down is writhing in Horror.

At the end Down finds the secret treasure cave full of beautifully arranged
and dusted Egyptian treasures under electric lights. It looks like the
design Toscano warehouse. But the only way into it is to crawl over a
urinal into a tiny, crawlspace and go through a small hatch and a little
rickety Ladder and through these various tunnels. So how the hell did they
get all these huge treasures in there? Where is the electricity coming
from? How do they possibly run a smuggling operation with stuff coming in
and stuff going out? Who is doing the dusting?

The bad guys break into Frank Langella’s house and they all shooting each
other and every shot blows up a precisely placed Egyptian urn. I was just
laughing out loud at that point.

Then with all the bad guys dead, and all the secrets and treasure safe,
Langella decides the only way out is suicide (why?) And collapses the
tunnels leading to the treasure vault although this doesn’t even get the
treasure vault dusty or cut off the electricity and Down decides rather
than to just tell the authorities what happened to leave it a secret for
all time. Why, why, why? Why did anything that happened happen in this??

I thought it must be a first time Director or somebody’s nephew that was in
charge of this mess but it turned out it’s from the Director of the
original planet of the apes!

Down met and married and divorced one of her costars on location. That
must’ve been a Wild ride!

THE GUNS OF WILL SONNETT

“We search for a man named Jim Sonnett; and the legend folks tell may be
true. Most call him gunman and killer. He’s my son, who I hardly knew. I
raised Jim’s boy from the cradle til the day he said to me, ‘I have to go
find my father.’ And I reckon that’s how it should be. So we ride, Jim’s
boy and me.”

After two years, their search comes to a conclusion, apparently written by
somebody who didn’t watch the previous 49 episodes.

When the three Sonnett boys finally get together they all say how it’s been
20 years since they’ve seen each other, but Jason Evers was in more than a
dozen episodes and they were face-to-face several times, but then for
reasons of plot had to leave through opposite sides of town or something.

So they head over to a town mayor, who owes them a great favor, although we
don’t know what, since he’s never been on the show before, and he agrees to
fire the current Sheriff and hire them to tame his extremely wild town that
seemingly has no citizens, certainly none that appear on the street.

Five bad guys, paid by somebody with a grudge against the middle Sonnett,
They’ve been trailing him for six months and show up to kill him. This is
all a completely new development and doesn’t explain why he’s been running
for the previous 20 years. Anyway the five face down the three. We know
there are five, because even if we couldn’t count the main one says “it’s
five against three!“ One of them says I am a Bushwacker” and runs away!

So now it’s four against three! We know there are four, because even if we
couldn’t count the main one says “it’s four against three!“

The three Sonnets quickly dispatch all four of them and then standing over
the four corpses in the middle of the street, Walter Brennan says “three
men died for naught“.

I swear it’s like looking at a four legged lizard and shouting about how it
has six legs. Except here there weren’t any large breasts to distract me.

Was Wendy's character on the original NIGHT COURT or was that a retcon?

Don't most of the resolutions involve personal growth?

I mean, if someone came with a fantasy to fly a plane into a skyscraper, he
would learn it would be a terrible idea and decide he really doesn't want to
do it.

I assume the stuff Roarke magically imports go away when the ep ends.

Retcon - I see no evidence that Wendie[oops!] Malick ever appeared on
the original "Night Court".
