jaisaa k aap sab jaante haiN, 'Nightingale of India', Lata Mangeshkar ji ab hamaare biich nahiiN rahiiN. Amjad Islam Amjad sahib ne Lata ji ko shradhanjali dete hue ek nazm likhi hai, jo unhoN ne mujhe Urdu font meN bheji hai.. maiN Amjad sahib ki ijaazat se, is nazm ko Roman meN aap sab ke saath share kar rahi huuN.

gumsum gumsum saaz paRe haiN sur kii raani chali gayii

ujR gayii rangoN kii dunyaa
ruuTh gayii phuuloN se Khushbuu
Khushk huaa sangiit ka daryaa
kar ke dunyaa ko diivaanaa voh diivaani chali gayii

jab jab bhii voh taan lagaatii
vaqt ka pahiyaa ruk jaataa aur
sargam us meN gum ho jaatii
utr gaye raagoN ke chehre, lai ki javaani chali gayii

jaise hoN bachpan ke miit
jiivan ke har dard ka darmaaN
marham jaise us ke giit
saat suroN kaa daryaa to hai us ki ravaani chali gayii

KhwaaboN ke dar kholne vaalii
bikhar gayii voh gul aavaaz
kaanoN meN ras gholne vaalii
Duub gaya voh subH ka taaraa, shaam suhaani chali gayii

us ke giitoN kii mehkaar
ek sii aatii jaatii thii
mulkoN ki sarHad ke paar
mast kiyaa har dil ko jis ne, voh mastaani chali gayii

Friends,

I have reposted this nazm because I wanted to fix some minor typos which were bugging me, and Alup does not have any edit option. I do not want to propagate any errors.

I was extra careful with preserving the meter in Roman, but if I missed anything, Prof RK/Irfan sahib please point it out. TIA.
