I actually spent a full day at work yesterday, just to get my grading
sitch beaten into shape. So I only watched...:

Class of 09 (Hulu) - "Part of Something" (ep. 1). Covered pretty
extensively in shawn's separate thread.
The main issue that I am having with this show is that I am only
finding the "Future" (in 2034) segements of the show really
interesting. The "present" (2023) segments are OK. But I find I don't
care at all about the "past" (2009) parts of the show.
So, how old is Mara supposed to be here? - Late-20s in 2009? 40-ish
in 2023? (Mara is actually 40 this year) And early 50s in 2034?
Sidenote: It makes me sad at how old Mara looks *IRL* here! She's
40, but she looks older to me.
Anyway, the "future" stuff will kepp me engaged with this one. If
nothing else, I want to find out how Mara's character lost an eye, and
got a bionic one!!

NBA basketball playoffs - I didn't watch this for long as it was clear
that Golden State was going to crash and burn in this game. And they
did. So they are out. And so is my interest in this year's playoffs.

Don't Sell My Baby (LMN/recorded) - This actually aired Thurs., May 4,
but LMN was reairing it last night, and I recorded it - I watched the
recording so I could fast-forward through commercials.
This was OK. I liked Kelly Hope Taylor playing totally EVOL!!1! in
this one (she was last seen playing the long-suffering older sister in
Lifetime's "Obsession Thrillogy(!)"). And I liked the EVOL!!1! but
cowardly social-worker accomplice who ran the orphanage/group home. But
Devin Cecchetto's character was kind of a brat in this flick, and not
in a good way - she was kind of hard to root for.
Pukeworthy was the lead character (Fallon Bowman), an angelic new HS
teacher with a heart of gold!! [roll]

Recorded for later: Just GH.

And what did you watch?

"Who would ever do this to him!?" - HottCiara on DOOL (04-27-2020), asking
who would stab Victor Kirakis... How about ANYONE WHO'S EVER MET HIM??!!

That's what I assume to be the case as she was a nurse so she spent at
least a few years in school and then working at least a few years so
late 20s seems about right for 2009.

I have to wonder if that was a replacement or part of the job. Hard to
avoid having everything seen and evaluated by the AI if you are always
wearing the recording device (even if they give you a means to turn it
off (which we should all know by now doesn't mean the recording is
actually off.))

>And what did you watch?

I watched the first episode of SILO which went slow but had a few
interesting moments as discussed in the other thread.

I also watched STATION 19 which was mainly about suicide prevention as
Beckett (Becker?) was apparently contemplating it with his having
already given away some of his possessions in the previous episode and
giving away more in this one. Luckily he was talked down and convinced
to go back to the treatment facility.

It wasn't a horrible episode except for a couple of minutes where the
writer went rogue and decided to have the characters berate the adult
world for the state of the world what with violence and climate change
and how we've screwed up the world for the children who are working to
save us all. Yes, the message was just that heavy handed.

Which surprised me since they had done a good job at covering the
issue of suicide prevention in the episode, but then did such a poor
job at promoting a message of supporting climate change prevention.

The other show I watched to fill time was GREY'S ANATOMY but nothing
of import happened with the show which is why it seldom gets
mentioned.

Stargate SG-1, S4E14 'The Serpent's Venom' (DVD)
"Teal'c returns to Chulak, his home world, to organize a revolt against
the Goa'uld but he is betrayed by the Jaffa Rak'nor and tortured by
Terac. The system lord Heru'ur offers Teal'c to Apophis as a sign of
good faith in the proposed alliance. Meanwhile Sam, Daniel and Jack set
off with Sam's father Jacob to capture a mine and reprogram it for use
as a weapon against Apophis. When they realize Teal'c has been taken
prisoner the decide to rescue him. Rak'nor however is deeply affected by
Teal'c's resistance to the torture and his willingness to die rather
than recognize false gods and releases him."

Major Samantha Carter: Uh, it's flashing green. Green is good?
Dr. Daniel Jackson: No.
Major Samantha Carter: Bad?
Dr. Daniel Jackson: Bad.
Major Samantha Carter: How bad?
Dr. Daniel Jackson: Very, very bad.
Major Samantha Carter: Dad!

Dr. Daniel Jackson: These are Tobin numbers. This is 1, this is 2, this
is 3...
Major Samantha Carter: Wait, wait! What about zero?
Dr. Daniel Jackson: What?
Major Samantha Carter: Zero. Why didn't you say zero?
Dr. Daniel Jackson: Uh... because there's no zero in the Phoenician
numerical system.
Jacob Carter/Selmak: What if the Tobins added it?
Major Samantha Carter: He's right! Inventing technology with this level
of sophistication would require a zero.
Dr. Daniel Jackson: Why?
Major Samantha Carter: Just trust me. It's a math thing.

Trivia: Jacob tells Raknor that their two ships will rendezvous on the
third moon of Tichenor. This planet is named for James Tichenor who
works in various roles on the show including second unit director,
writer and primarily in the visual effects department.

The commentary by the usual suspects, the director, DP and FX
supervisor. Martin Wood claims that during his director cameo Amanda
Tapping grabbed his butt as she walked past. O_o He also claims he had
them do several more takes of the scene than were needed so she could do
it some more. o_O When someone is being tortured with the Torture
Stick and the golden light is coming out of their eyes and mouth, its
called "Flashlight in the Mouth". "Ah, Apophis' dates." "Not a
particularly practical thing to bring to a summit." "But when you're a
god, especially when you're an evil god, you take as many women with you
as you can for you know its just going to be a _boring_ trip." Some
discussion about the writer's temptation to actually kill off one of the
main characters just because the audience doesn't think they actually
will.

-----------------

Stargate SG-1, S4E15 'Chain Reaction' (DVD)
"General Hammond mysteriously retires from the SGC and a new general is
brought in, who breaks up SG-1: Daniel and Sam are scientists, Teal'c is
with SG-3 and O'Neill commands a new SG-1. O'Neill tries to convince
Gen. Hammond to return, but he finds out that someone ordered Hammond to
leave or they would hurt his grandchildren. While the others are
occupying the new general, O'Neill tries to find out who that "someone"
is. He must place his trust in the one person he hates most: Maybourne."

Teal'c: On Chulak, when a great warrior retires from the field of
battle, it is customary to sing a song of lament.
[pause]
Teal'c: Fortunately we are not on Chulak.

Senator Robert Kinsey: Given the chance, half of all American citizens
won't even vote and the half that do vote are too stupid to know what
they're doing.
Colonel Jack O'Neill: Which explains how you got elected.

Trivia: Kinsey's dog, Oscar, was played by Richard Dean Anderson's real
life Australian Shepherd, Zoe. (Nepotism!)
When Col. Maybourne is logging onto the computer, the name he types into
the user name box is "Menard". James Alfred Menard (Jim Menard) was the
Director of Photography.

Commentary again. When the new General arrives at SGC the actress
playing his aide winked at Richard Dean Anderson as she walked past him
which surprised (and slightly freaked) him. The director liked it so
much he used that take in the episode. :D

She's a quintessential lollipop girl. So rail-thin that her head looks
like a lollipop out of proportion to her tiny body.

I was wondering if that was supposed to be standard issue in the
future-- if *all* the agents had them.

She's been skinny since Day One (i.e. going back to the 2000s), and I
definitely think that helps age you prematurely.

To the best of me recollection, she was the only one shown with one.

In ep. #1, hers was definitely a *bionic eye*. It wasn't just a contact lens.

In episode three, Danny Thomas throws walnuts at her, and every time he
