Where in we see a bunch of people dressed for a party with the first
part focused on a woman named Lorelei who ends up dead by a body of
water, which later turns out to be a pool on board the space ship
Ascension. We also get a number of people who regard themselves as
above it all because they are in a leadership position enjoying the
fruits of their position with good food and music at their party while
we see many other people struggling to keep the ship functioning as
this is a generation spaceship heading off to another planet to help
spread humanity.

Then we cut back to planet Earth where we see a man woman who turns
out to be an engineer with a dad who is in a nursing home after a
stroke who worked for NASA designing rockets. He has been visited by a
man who is working on a dissertation who is convinced that the man had
actually built Ascension back in the 60s. He wants the information
exposed that the USA actually built such a ship.

Then back to the ship where they discover that the woman was actually
killed. Turns out these people are the descendants of the first people
on the ship. Lorelei was killed by a bullet (which shouldn't be on the
ship.)

(On my end, the only thing I remember about this, aside from the
ending, is that Lauren Lee Smith was in it...)

Yeah, I'm not expecting great things from it based on what I've
already seen. So much science completely ignored in the making of this
show, but I guess they had to do that to begin to sell the idea that
this could have been pulled off and not only would the public not be
aware but the people on the ship wouldn't be able to figure it out.

Yeah, she shows up in episode 3. At least that looks to be the case
from the preview. Yes, this included the previews which is very
unusual for most recordings. She looks to be an outside investigator
called in to help figure out who killed Lorelei.

No idea. I recorded this ages ago and just added it to my watch list
this week when I was looking for something 'new' to watch. Ah, it's a
StudioCanal product so that's where it was recorded from originally.
Also explains the occasional German subtitles.
