Canada is authorizing doctors to kill Canadians who worry they might lose
their homes. Canada's solution to poverty is doctor assisted suicide.

Well, I’m all for assisted suicide. It should be available to everybody
after a simple mental check and very brief waiting period.

They've encouraged veterans to take the MAID (Medical Assistance In Dying) too, even though the veterans in question were still medically treatable. When word of that got out, it caused such a big uproar that the government decided to defer further "liberalization" of MAID - but only for one year. I suppose they want some more time to come up with a big PR campaign to convince people that they should let the doctors kill them rather than letting themselves become a burden on society.

It's anyone's guess how long they'll wait before making MAID mandatory instead of voluntary. I'm sure the Liberals would insist that they would NEVER make it mandatory but I trust them about as far as I trust that Mizzy goofball to behave himself.

But Sarah Palin saying "death panels" was just sooooooo outrageous.

Yes. Because it was a fucking lie. No such panels existed, nor did
they ever exist.

So, yes... it WAS sooooooo outrageous. But that's never stopped your
lies, has it?

At that time it WAS outrageous.

What is outrageous now is that what was originally meant to "help"
terminal patients often suffering intensely has been extended and
extended and extended to disturbing lengths.

About the ONLY pushback was when an Afghan vet who was experiencing
PTSD difficulties (gee whiz wonder why?) who rather than getting the
proper 'veterans affairs' services or whatever they're called in
Canada was offered euthenasia and that created a parliamentary scandal
with the "aid worker's" career quickly being terminated with extreme
prejudice as well it should have been.

Wrong. The "death panels" were removed after she brought attention to it.

Funny enough, this is why "fact checkers" like Scopes claim her claim was
false.

Palin's claim has been referred to as the "death panel myth", as nothing
in any proposed legislation would have led to individuals being judged
to see if they were worthy of health care.
....
For 2009, "death panel" was named as PolitiFact's "Lie of the Year", one
of FactCheck's "whoppers", and the most outrageous new term by the
American Dialect Society.

The basis of the Death Panels came from a provision in the ACA that
would have allowed payment for "end of life" counseling - IF you wanted
that service.

It was to be a benefit. Nobody was planning on dumping Grandma in an
shallow grave...

I'm very glad to hear the aid worker was sacked; I didn't know that.
Mind you, I saw some claims that three or four other such cases had
occur. If that actually happened, I wonder if the recommenders were
terminated.

My big concern is that the Liberals only postponed the expansion of MAID
for a year, which implies they are still very gung ho about doing this.
I strongly suspect that they are going to make some superficial changes
at best and then go on as originally intended.

I don't see how you can mention Sarah Palin in the same breath with
Obama and Romney. But, are you saying that her "Death Panels" exist or
have ever existed? If so, please cite.

This should be good. Bet we're gonna learn lots we didn't know now.
Meanwhile, while we're waiting for Thanny to expound... enjoy!

On Paul Revere:
> He who warned, uh, the British that they weren't gonna be takin' away our arms, uh, by ringing those bells, and um, makin' sure as he's riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be sure and we were going to be free, and we were going to be armed.

Hmmm... I'll be returning my bachelors degree in History, now. I don't
deserve it fer knot knowin' them thar historical fax.

> The status quo has got to go, otherwise we're just going to get more of the same. And with their failed agenda, it can't be salvaged. It must be savaged. And Donald Trump is the right one to do that."

When asked to cite a Supreme Court decision she disagreed with
(excluding Roe V Wade):
> Well, let's see. There's ― of course in the great history of America there have been rulings that there's never going to be absolute consensus by every American, and there are those issues, again, like Roe v. Wade, where I believe are best held on a state level and addressed there. So, you know, going through the history of America, there would be others but ―"

When called out for her using own "special" wurds:
> 'Refudiate,' 'misunderestimate,' 'wee-wee'd up.' English is a living language. Shakespeare liked to coin new words too. Got to celebrate it!'

On Kim Jong-Un:
> But obviously, we've got to stand with our North Korean allies.

And this is right up Thanny's alley, being as how it's about The
Department of Law, and all:
> I think on a national level your Department of Law there in the White House would look at some of the things that we've been charged with and automatically throw them out.

Prescient? Maybe Thanny meant "President".

I think I was quite clear in what I said. Palin accurately predicted the
logical end result of socialized government-run health care: the government
starts to see every individual as a burden on the system and starts
prioritizing the relief if that burden in the form of denial of care and
incentivizing euthanasia.

(For someone who routinely enjoys stretching words and concepts well beyond
their commonly understood definitions, you're suddenly being suspiciously
pedantic about whether the suicide incentive and denial of care takes the form
of a panel of bureaucrats or just a general policy.)

I'm unaware of that circumstance. Please cite your evidence that:

"the government [sees] every individual as a burden on the system
and [prioritizes] the relief of that burden in the form of denial of
care and incentivizing euthanasia ... whether the suicide incentive and
denial of care takes the form of a panel of bureaucrats or just a
general policy."
