The C-Wub, in its death throws, bought foreign distribution rights to
two programs to air on Mondays starting 5/29/2023, a supernatural murder
mystery from Sky Studios (for Sky Max formerly Sky One) called The Rising,
and a drama from ABC (Australia) about 1970s surfers who created rival
sportsgear companies. Both are from 2022 and are 8 episodes. The Rising
is basedon a Belgian series Beau Sejour from 2017. The Rising had gotten
renewed but then the studio cancelled it before production began.

The Rising is a bit of an oddball ghost story. The ghost can seemingly
manipulate objects in the real world but it's ghostly manifestations of
the objects, and the damage she believes she's caused with the object
hasn't actually happened. Dogs can see and hear her, and her drunken
father Tom (Matthew McNulty) can see and hear her.

The corpse of Neve (Clara Rugaard, Danish actress, singer) is floating
in a lake. Suddenly her ghost awakens, although it takes her a while to
glean that she's dead.

In a new one in a ghost story, she strips to figure how she died and
sees rope marks around her neck and I guess a bullet hole in her skull.
Someone wanted to make sure she was really most sincerely dead. As long
as she's naked, she takes a shower. Why does a ghost need to shower?
The ligature marks vanish.

She was 19. The afternoon before, she'd done well on motocross. She
stayed with the team, camping overnight by a lake, or so her family
thought.

Her mother Maria (Emily Taaffe) is on her second husband; he has a boy
and girl, teenagers.

Neve doesn't remember what happened to her in her last hours but gets
glimpses of memories when she looks at photos.

Once her family is convinced she's missing and the search begins, Neve
races in a ghostly duplicate of her motocross bike, wearing her safety
helmet despite being dead. She gets to the area. People haven't left
from yesterday's motocross and they start looking. Neve is able to lead
the family dog to the lake's shore and her teammates, seeing crows
circling, begin to realize that her corpse is in the lake. The body is
dragged from the waer.

The drunken father denies he can see his dead daughter, so she races on
the ghostly motocross bike following his Land Rover. He tries to get
away. She gets ahead of him, and he crashes into her and the bike. She's
not killed, still being dead. Her father stops denying her.
