By "take out", you mean "check out" and not "remove", right?

I have a rather well used library card.

I also have a reasonably sized personal library taking up most of one
wall in this room. I also have a second wall of books in this room
which is a bit of a problem for me as they're mostly my late wife's
books mostly on topics of course that were of great interest to her
but not so much to me. Both of us are / were bibliophiles though with
completely different interests. (She for instance would not have been
interested in my chess library but regularly bought second-hand books
at absurdly low prices - and a very few much higher priced
collectibles like when she gave me a (without dust jackets) first
edition Churchill 6 volume WW2 set)

But for sure our card is well used. <grin>

While true, inexpensive books are readily available.

I've mentioned earlier I'm working on cleaning up my wife's library
(who left us March 22) - both she and I are / were bibliophiles and
she left roughly 300-400 books some of which are in our kids' old
"playroom" which has morphed into our respective libraries and her
craft table (aka "place to stash stuff we know we need to get rid of
or put somewhere else but haven't figured out where yet"

On books I can't talk since I have at least as many as hers roughly
1/2 on chess (not surprising since while I'm not anywhere near master
class as a player I'm a sold club level player but better known for
having directed 100+ touranments and been involved at the top levels
of the Chess Federation of Canada for a number of years)

A quick look at my computer area would convince one there is work to
do...

My condolences on the passing of your wife. It sounds as if you had a
wonderful life together.
